If you have not upgraded your plan yet, now might be a good time. Telecom operators are offering plans with unlimited free local and STD calls, often bundled with a helping of free data.

Airtel

Airtel is offering unlimited free and STD calls starting at Rs 549. The prepaid plan is called myPlan infinity. The higher priced tiers, starting from Rs 1,199 also offer unlimited free calls even when roaming. The plans offer free 4G data to consumers, but those with 3G handsets get a reduced amount of free 3G data. myPlan infinity postpaid offerings allow users to choose a base price tier, and then use a slider for allocating talktime minutes or data. The flexibility of the plan allows users to get a custom plan depending on their specific usage.



Vodafone

Vodafone is offering unlimited local calls, and unlimited STD calls to Vodafone numbers for prepaid customers. The plans are called Vodafone superplans, and come with 50 MB of free data. 4G handset users get an additional 300 MB or 1 GB of free data, depending on the price tier. The plans are available for Rs 149 or Rs 349. Postpaid users can avail one of the Vodafone Red plans, which offer unlimited free voice calls, with higher priced tiers offering unlimited free calls on roaming as well. The plans allow users to send up to 100 free SMS messages every day.



Idea

Idea is offering unlimited voice calls as part of its “Ultimate Plan”. The Rs 599 plan offers free unlimited talktime to any number within the country, even when roaming. The data packs have to be topped up separately though. The data offerings are mostly 2G though. There is a default base tariff of Rs 99, over which consumers can purchase either data or voice packs according to their requirements.



RCom

Reliance Communications is offering unlimited free voice calls with its “Special Plans.” The Local Onnet Unlimited Pack 149 provides free unlimited calls for customers with GSM handsets. The Jalsa Unlimited plan offers free unlimited voice calls at Rs 299. Outgoing calls during roaming will be charged at Rs 0.50 per minute, though. The company has reserved the right to discontinue services, if the user makes calls to more than 75 unique numbers every week, or if the user makes more than 10 hours of calls in a week.

Aircel

For Rs 249 a month, Aircel prepaid consumers can avail unlimited calls to any number, as well as unlimited 2G data. Users can activate the plan by dialling *121*24900#. The plan has a validity period of 28 days. The rate cutter schemes allow consumers to avail free voice calls for a day. There is a one night validity for unlimited free local and STD calls, for Rs 15. The plan can be activated by dialling *121*1500#.

Tata DoCoMo

DoCoMo is offering unlimited free voice calls as part of its gold campaign of plans. For Rs 298, users can avail unlimited STD and local voice calls bundled with 2GB of data. For users who do not want the data, a Rs 246 plan offers free local and STD calls. The top tier plan in the campaign is unlimited STD and local calls for Rs 348. The plans are valid for a period of 28 days, and are available for prepaid customers.

BSNL

BSNL has launched a new plan for prepaid and postpaid customers that allow users to avail unlimited free calls at the rate of Rs 144 a month. The plan comes bundled with 300 MB of data, and is oriented towards customers using 2G or 3G capable handsets. BSNL had previously introduced a plan that provided unlimited BSNL to BSNL local calling for Rs 99 a month, with 300 MB of data. For Rs 339, users could avail free voice calls across India to any network, along with 1 GB of data. BSNL also offers unlimited data over 3G for Rs 1,999 a month.
