To say I’m both excited and a bit nervous about today’s post is an understatement.

—>But also nervous because let’s face it, a fashionista I am not. Being a reader of this blog, you would typically come here for the recipes or healthy kitchen hacks – not necessarily to see a registered dietitian/food blogger model some outfits.
That said, I’m hoping your curiosity gets the best of you and you read on. Because despite my lamely posed photos (let’s just say I am not giving any fashion blog a run for its money), Stitch Fix is a fun and reliable online styling service that I’ve been a fan of for awhile now.
And since I’ve been using their services on and off for the past few years, I was pretty darn excited when they approached us at Recipe ReDux to see if our members would be interested in joining their influencer program and doing a review of their services for the summer.
Here’s how Stitch Fix work:
Fill out a style profile here. <—- this is KEY. The more information you can share about your likes and dislikes (you can even start your own Pinterest board with styles, outfits, trends you like), the more likely you’ll get items you’ll want to keep. (Disclosure: this is an affiliate link.)
Schedule when you want your items (your “fix”) to arrive. You can schedule to receive a fix one time only or schedule fixes to arrive monthly. There are no obligations on how few or how many deliveries you want.
Pay a $20 styling fee per fix. You can use this as credit for any of the items you receive in your “fix.” So, if you get a top that costs $42, you’d only owe $22 if you decide to keep it.
Receive a combo of 5 clothing/accessory items hand-styled for you by a Stitch Fix Stylist. You have 3 days to decide what to keep and what to send back in a pre-paid bag (aka no shipping fee.) If you buy nothing, you owe nothing more. If you keep everything, you get an additional 25% off.
Since participating in Stitch Fix, I’ve received 9 fixes to date and on average, I’ve kept 1 – 2 items from each delivery. Only once did I send everything back.
The one downer is that if you need a different size you are out of luck – you either keep what you get or send it back. But to me, it’s one con to several pros – aka, not having to physically shop for clothes, having a personal stylist!, trying things you might not typically go for and getting your wardrobe up to date.
OK – so let’s get to the #StitchFixReDux fix I received:
Here’s the box (it’s seriously like Christmas Day when it arrives – what’s going to be inside??)
Each fix comes with a personal note from your stylist (I knew it was a good sign when my stylist had the same name as my daughter.) Also included are photo cards of each piece matched with other clothes/shoes/accessories so you get some ideas on how to wear it several ways.
Piece #1 – Curran Split Neck Blouse (Pixley)
As soon as I tried this one, I knew I was keeping it. It was light and airy – perfect for summer – and I knew I could easily dress it up and wear with a nice skirt/pants/jacket or wear it with jeans or shorts. KEEPER!
In fact, I even wore it on a #sponsoredtrip a few weeks ago for the Uncle Ben’s Rice is Nice Tour. See, this top is even versatile enough to wear when maneuvering around to get the best shot of a rice field in Mississippi (photo credit: Carolyn O’Neil.)
Piece #2 – Giovanni Ankle Straight Leg Jean (Level 99)
For this fix, I asked for a colored capri pant or colored jeans. My stylist acknowledged that she “didn’t have the perfect pair of capris at this moment” but thought I’d like these mustard color jeans instead as the color was fairly neutral.
I have to say that this is my second pair jeans from Stitch Fix that fit me so well that I kept. Seriously SHOCKING to me because after bathing suits, I think jeans are the hardest thing to shop for period. (I also thought they looked pretty good with that polka dot blouse.)
Piece #3 – Primmie Tunic (Skies are Blue)
I so wanted to keep this as I loved the color (deep purple) and I did ask for something long enough for leggings. But it didn’t fit all that great and the sleeves were a bit short (hazard of being a tall girl.) So, back it went but I’d love something similar to this in a future fix.
Piece #4 – Tameron Button Down Blouse (41Hawthorn)
This was the only piece I didn’t like at all. The fabric was a weird poly-blend and the buttoned lapels on the shoulders reminder me of shoulder pads and the 80s. Sent back.
Piece #5 – Finnegan Roll Cuffed Short (Dear John)
These were cute but I have plenty of jean shorts and they were a little bit too big. Otherwise, I would have been tempted to keep them.
So, there you have it – I kept 2 items so I’d consider this Stitch Fix a success! I have plenty of summer clothes at this point so I’ll probably wait to schedule another fix in the fall (most likely before my dietetic convention so I can ask for some business causal pieces.)
