(Angry Patriot Movement) – A Fed Ex driver saving our flag from liberal protesters trying to set it on fire was a proud moment for patriots. Wondering what happened to him? Well, wonder no more.
The Marion American Legion just awarded the driver, Matt Uhrin, with a certificate, membership to the Legion, and well-deserved praise, via The Gazette.
When the video of Uhrin first broke, many patriots were worried Uhrin’s employer might bow to upset liberals or that he would receive abuse from more protesters.
Thankfully, FedEx has tweeted that Uhrin will keep his job, and Uhrin has gotten the praise he deserves, via Breitbart.
Charles E Schmidt, American Legion National Commander, was proud to present the driver, who is also a veteran, with the certificate. Schmidt lamented that laws protecting our flag are still necessary.
Schmidt added, “Mr. Uhrin and another young man who stepped in to stop the flag burners in Iowa City clearly understand that deliberate destruction of our nation’s most profound symbol of unity is both a violation of logic and an insult to all who have served our country in uniform. As leader of the nation’s largest organization of wartime veterans, I commend them for stepping up in defense of our nation’s colors,” via The American Legion.
A very modest man, Matt Uhrin says he corrects anyone who calls him a hero. He also took some time to elaborate on what went through his mind as he saved the flag.
While Uhrin served in Afghanistan from 2010 to 2011, he was charged with moving the coffin of a fellow soldier into transport, so that the hero, who was killed by sniper fire, could be sent home.
He said he remembers the flag on the coffin vividly, and the image popped into his head when dealing with the protesters. Uhrin explained, “To me, it wasn’t just a flag. It was that flag. It was his memory being disgraced, and I couldn’t let it happen. It just wasn’t going to happen while I was there.”
The veteran, obviously, has deep respect for American freedoms and clarified that he does not want to take away anyone’s right to protest, but he does believe they should leave the flag out of their demonstrations.
Thankfully, with a real patriot in the White House, more and more people are standing up to the liberal protesters. We are with you, Uhrin.
