Grand Tours on the horizon:

2013

9/22 Sunday – EBC “Tour de Redland”

The ride will take place Sunday, September 22 at 7:30 AM departing from and finishing at Larry & Penny Thompson Park (Map). The ride is free and open to EBC members and friends (that means everybody), StormRiders will participate. The ride is unsupported with no SAG and we will be utilizing local businesses for rest stops. There will be two routes:

Route 1 is ~53 miles with one rest stop at the Earnest Coe Visitors Center at Everglades National Park where there are restrooms and drinks for sale. This route is for those who want to keep a faster pace. StormRiders will do this route the same as our Saturday ride: 21 mph max, NSLB (No StormRider Left Behind).

Route 2 is ~30 miles with 2 rest stops at RF Orchids, and Cauley Square. This ride is designed for less experienced riders who want to test their fitness and increase mileage, or for those who want to tour the Redland at a more leisurely pace. Since Cauley Square is only about 3 miles from Larry and Penny, riders may want to have an early lunch there before finishing the ride.

Besides offering another riding opportunity, the Tour de Redland has a subtle agenda of making local businesses aware that biking means business.
