I just love this time of year as the red and green begin to fill my craft studio and I start to dream about my Christmas cards, gifts, and other special handmade touches I like to put on the holidays. The planning and dreaming is half the fun of the celebration for me!

The first thing I want to share with you today is a little more about our Build a Scene Christmas paper collection! As you might remember, we did something really unique back in August when we released our Build a Scene Halloween patterned paper by including several pre-designed scenes in the paper pack to make your card-crafting even easier. Well, we've done it again with our Build a Scene Christmas paper pack and I'm excited to show you the 3 pre-designed scenes (2 sheets of each) that are included:

These scenes were designed to work with the stamps and dies that we're releasing this month plus several of our previously released stamps and dies as well (can't you just imagine that scene on the left with our Nativity Border over the top!?). Instead of printing the scene across the entire piece of 6" x 6" sheet, we took the guesswork out of it and sized the scene at 4" x 5.25" making it the perfect size to layer onto an A2 card front. Simply trim the scene from the patterned paper and then save those extra patterned strips to use on another project!

So for my first project I decided to use one of these scene papers along with our Build a Scene - Central Park die set to make this card:

The patterned paper scene adds just the right touch to the skyline for building the park scene. I used the trees (largest tree from  Build a Scene - Winter Trees) along with the pond, bench, and small deer along with our Downtown Border die in the background to create this scene straight from Central Park. I'd imagined a place on that bench would be very peaceful.

I cut the stars for the treetops from gold glitter paper using the previously released Little Bits - Christmas Tree die. After assembling the scene I simply added Clear Pico Embellisher to the pond for a frozen/glossy appearance. The sentiment is from the In & Out Christmas set (more on that set coming tomorrow!).

If you've ever received a Christmas card from our family, then at some point you've probably received a photo card. And I'll be the first to admit that my photo cards haven't always been handmade. *hanging head in shame* I love to send photos of our girls at the holidays so I'm always looking for new ways to incorporate photos into my handmade cards. And this year I've come up with the solution using our new Picture Perfect die sets!

We've created both a vertical and a horizontal option for either wallet size photos (using the smaller frame), traditional 4x6 photos (slight cropping required) or 3.5x5 photos (no cropping required). By now I hope you all know that I also love products with versatility and so I couldn't create something that was JUST for photo cards. So I'll also show you below how these Picture Perfect dies can be used to hold just about any holiday scene from your imagination!

I'll start with my photo card using a picture of our girls from last year (still need to plan outfits for this year's holiday photo!):

I started by die cutting the horizontal frame and then trimming my 4x6 photo to fit within it. For simplicity, I could have stopped right there (and I might just do that if I'm mass-producing this 100 times!), but I decided to keep going by hanging a few Little Bits - Ornaments from the top of the frame using gold cording. The great part is that you can make it as simple or complex as you want!

And speaking of detailed, I decided to pair up the new Holiday Arbor Accessories with the same Picture Perfect frame to show you how these are useful not only for photo cards, but for just about any holiday card. Here's what I came up with:

Using the previously release Wrought Iron Gate & Fence, I adorned it with pine boughs (complete with snowy detail), an evergreen wreath, and red bows. I grabbed the 'from our home to yours' sentiment from the previously released Baby It's Cold Outside stamp set because it seemed to fit this scene perfectly.

Other previously released dies on this project include Build a Scene - Rolling Hills, Cloud Duo, and Pockets & Pages Stitched Essentials.

I hope you too can see all the possibilities for these Picture Perfect dies. And if you happen to want a set to add to your collection, make sure you leave a comment on this post for your chance to win!
