Introducing:

A Life She Loved

When Your Heart Speaks

Stroke of Genius

It's often fun to think back about how a particular stamp or series of stamps develops. This set was born from a quote that Jami came across on Pinterest... "She Designed A Life She Loved". My mind was immediately overtaken with images of little rooms filled with balls of yarn, an easel and canvas, paintbrushes, and other crafty supplies. Why did my mind go there? I suppose it's because I find such joy in filling my own home with creative expressions of myself and my family. And so today the Baker's Dozen and I are each sharing a home decor project idea featuring these stamp sets!

When I first came across the Kaisercraft Beyond the Page House Shadowbox, it was like my vision came to life! I initially envisioned the little rooms of a house filled with creativity, but I had no idea how I'd pull that off until I found this house! I'll start by saying this was not a quick project. I feel like I ran a crafty marathon here, but I am so proud of the way this turned out and so excited to be able to display at home!

The house is a little over 18" tall and 12" wide so it's pretty large. It comes un-assembled so my first task was to spray paint the pieces white. Then before assembling I covered the entire back portion of the house with Hazel & Ruby Pretty Floral Wrap. I later pieced in other patterns from their wrap collection for some of the rooms.

My idea for the bottom room was to create a 'family' room with pictures of each of our family members. I had wallet size photos printed in black and white and then used several of our Stacklet dies to create frames for the photos (Label Stacklets 2, Label Stacklets 7, Bloomin' Stacklets 1). My favorite parts of this room (aside from the photos of my sweet girls) are the wainscoting that I created with my Scor Pal and the miniature chair in the corner that I picked up from Michael's.

On one end of the room I cut out the easel from When Your Heart Speaks, stamped brush strokes from the Stroke of Genius set, and embossed the 'Enjoy Every Moment' sentiment. I sprinkled sequins on the floor because every good creative house must have sequins on the floor! *wink*

On the opposite end of the room put the little chair along with some coordinating beads housed in a cute treasure jar from Kaisercraft. The heart on the front of the jar is from the Hearts & Arrows wood veneer set. I picked up the pink and teal rose shaped balls in the bead section at Michaels and I also found the large 'family' word at Michaels in the unfinished wood section.

For the rooms in the mid-section I colored stamped images from both sets and added small trinkets like the mini spools covered with floss and the stack of buttons. I embossed the sentiments onto Chalkstock with Powder embossing powder and put them on folded cards inside two of the rooms.

I was thrilled that our last name was just the right size to stretch across an entire room of the house. Typically when I'm decorating at home our last name is too long to fit on anything (i.e. spelled out on the mantel or in a wall hanging), but it worked perfectly here! I started by cutting a piece of cardstock to fit the room and stamping the brush stroked in various colors to match. Then I cut a piece of vellum to layer over the top and adhered the letters cut out with the Chunky Alpha dies.

And last, but not least, I always envision the loft/attic space to be my crafty area (even though in our actual house my stamp studio is in the basement). I used images from both stamp sets, mini tiles to spell out love/create/dream, and my very favorite touch which looks cooler in person.... a beaded 'chandelier' using the jar topper mini mobile.

That might be more than you wanted to know about my house, but there you have it! After running this 'crafty marathon' I decided to keep my next project much simpler, and it turned out to be another one of my favorite projects ever!

I started with the mini canvas (sold with the easel) that measures just 2.75" square making it the perfect size to embellish with sequins! I spread Best Glue Ever over the entire surface and got out my Doodlebug sequins to start the rainbow.

I began the journey through ROY.G.BIV with red in the bottom left corner and ended with violet in the top right corner. I stamped the sentiment in Tuxedo Black ink and cut it out with Banner Stacklets 1. Then I colored each of the letters with Copic marker and covered them with Crystal Stickles to match the glimmer in the sequins. I haven't decided where I'll display this, but perhaps in my stamp room because it makes me smile.

As I mentioned above, the rest of the Baker's Dozen gals also have projects to share using these versatile stamps for both home decor and card projects!
