After an IRS Criminal Investigation, Miles J. Julison was found guilty in federal court of a strange IRS income tax fraud scheme that netted him over $400,000. Calling himself “a bond servant of Jesus Christ,” Julison claimed that he did not recognize the jurisdiction of Judge Michael H. Simon’s U.S. District Court. Bothered by Julison’s continued defiance, Judge Simon remanded Julison to await sentencing to federal prison in jail.

In this IRS income tax fraud case, after failing to find success flipping houses and on the verge of bankruptcy, Julison filed his 2007 individual income tax return with the IRS, reporting $583,151 in “other income.” Julison falsely reported that the entire fictional amount was withheld as income taxes. He claimed he was owed a refund of $411,773 based on these amounts. Without investigating, the IRS mailed Julison a check for that amount. He used the money to pay off a home loan, buy a Mercedes-Benz and a boat, and pay off almost $60,000 in credit card debt.

Obvious IRS Income Tax Fraud

Part of the IRS income tax fraud, Julison’s California-based tax preparer has been accused of helping clients make off with $60 million. Together, Julison and his tax preparer came up with the dollar amounts reported on his tax return by adding his personal debt to eight IRS 1099-OID forms. Prosecutor Seth D. Uram told the jury during opening statements, “Every number on (Julison’s) return is completely made up… Unfortunately, the IRS paid him first, asked questions later.”

In Part 2 of this IRS income tax fraud piece, Julison’s egotism soars to new heights and leads to the IRS Criminal Investigation Division. Without question, his previous IRS income tax fraud would have led to such an outcome.
