If you are looking for a wide variety of recipes like Brussels Sprouts with Caramelized Shallots, Ham and Cheese Stuffed Pumpkin Spice French Toast Waffles, or Peanut Butter and Pretzel Sandwich Cookies with Chocolate Ganache, then you really need to check out today’s Blogger Spotlight, Meseidy from The Noshery. I am obsessed with the little bit I know about Puerto Rican food, so I know I am going to be trying out some of Meseidy’s Puerto Rican recipes. I’m so happy to have her here today so that we can all learn a little bit more about her!

I’m Meseidy (Meh-say-dee). Wife and mother to three four-legged children (including an ornery Terrier). Graduate of Platt College Culinary Arts Institute. Landlocked Puerto Rican who must be within a five-mile radius of a plantain at all times.

I created The Noshery in 2008 after realizing how much my husband and I missed the food back home in Puerto Rico. Here you’ll find recipes that are always from scratch, ideas inspired by my travels, and cooking techniques I’ve learned along my journey from home-cook to chef—plus some life misadventures, DIY and craft tips, and doggie shenanigans thrown in to keep you on your toes.

And a Canon 5D Mark II camera is the accomplice in my evil plan to make your mouth water by the photos on your screen.

My dishes reflect life as a former military brat with a pinch from here and dash from there. But Puerto Rico and its authentic cooking will always be home. I love pairing interesting ingredients together and am always on a mission to create the perfect bite.

What inspired you to first start writing your blog?

The Noshery just kind of happened. Five years ago I had just gotten married and had some free time on my hands. I became obsessed with photography and cooking. So, I started a blog just to keep a record of my recipes. I never had any plans for it beyond that, but because of my blog I have met a ton of lovely people and had some great experiences.

Where do most of your recipes come from?

I get a lot of inspiration from looking through magazine, blogs & cookbooks. I also tend to get fixated on an ingredient that I want to work with, so I look it up in my copy of “The Flavor Bible” and get ideas from the ingredient list.

What is your favorite recipe posted on your blog?

Pastelon

It’s an oldie but a goodie. One of my favorite recipes is my “Pastelon” recipe. It’s kind of like a Puerto Rican lasagna, using sweet plantains in place of noodles. I love it because it reminds me of home and it’s freaking amazing. The perfect balance of sweet and savory, right in the kisser. I love it so much I even made it into a pizza.
