In the US, over half of the working population is dissatisfied with their job. People are quite often dissatisfied with salaries, wages, or benefits. For whatever reason, their current job doesn’t correspond to their values or aspirations, so they’re open to new opportunities. In Europe, the statistics are generally better but vary by country. No matter where you are, though, successful professionals are often interested in seeing what their employment options are, where they can stretch their boundaries or perhaps pick up new skills if they feel their current environment is constraining.

How do we know that the grass is greener on the other side if we’re not looking? Between professional, familial, and social commitments, however, there isn’t much free time for job-hunting, at least not in the traditional sense. As a matter of etiquette and/or business politics, job hunting while on the clock is either forbidden or frowned upon. In some industries, new job postings receive hundreds, if not thousands, of applications within the first few days; it can be difficult to get applications in fast, on the top of the stack, as it were.

Recruiters, who have noticed this perpetual challenge faced by job-hunters and candidates on a day-to-day basis, have increasingly begun to offer a solution.

And it’s sitting in your pocket.

The concept of mobile job application has floated around the industry for some time. Many of the resources that currently exist, however, are either meta job searching tools—they gather data from disparate and sometimes unverifiable sources—or are provided by a particular organization. In the former, the risk of job scams or irrelevant search results sometimes render apps useless. The latter limits the jobs available to be searched. In an age where we’re often putting our names out for many positions at a time, it’s unrealistic to be expected to download a dozen apps simply because we’re considering working for a dozen different organizations. The middle ground lies in one app with verified employers that connects applicants directly to opportunities, making the transition from interest in a job to actually applying for it simpler and safer.

TargetRecruit is doing just that. Our new mobile app allows the many organizations that choose to do business with TargetRecruit to connect directly with you, the candidates who drive their future success.

Why mobile?

Mobile job apps allow you to view jobs anytime, anywhere. They’re especially handy while traveling in commute, or other times that are so often spent using mobile devices (think, while watching the evening news or your favorite sitcom, while waiting for transit, or while standing in queues). Why not do something good for your career in that time?

Access applications fast, sometimes as they’re posted by an employer. Job alerts allow you to respond to new job postings from organizations or in certain fields that you designate. PUSH notifications get the message right to you. The ability to save the criteria of particular searches comes in handy when you want to look up a particular job multiple times, as well as when looking for similar positions. You can also find company information, getting insight into whether or not you seem to be a cultural fit for a particular organization.

Over 70% of job seekers are using mobile apps. You, too, can take the opportunity to leverage the benefits of mobile job hunting.
