VOLUNTARY groups and organisations across Tamworth have received a cash boost of £2,000 from Tamworth Borough Council.
The grants include £1,000 to the charity which is raising funds to install life-saving defibrillators across Tamworth.
Three groups have each been awarded grants of between £500 and £1,000 from the Voluntary and Community Grants scheme.
The grants are given to help organisations develop and provide services for the residents of Tamworth.
The latest grants are:
£1,000 for Tamworth Have a Heart – a new charity which is raising funds for automatic defibrillators to be installed across Tamworth. The charity will also run training sessions to show members of the public how to use the defibrillators. The grant will be used towards the purchase and installation of a defibrillator.
£500 for Positive Paths for Parents towards the start-up and running costs of the new ‘drop-in’ to support parents with mental health issues. The sessions will provide peer support and a venue for the parents to come with their children. The drop-in sessions will star in November and will be held at the Pip Club in Fazeley on Wednesdays and Community Together CIC in the Castle Grounds on Mondays.
£500 for Pennymoor Pre-School Nursery towards the purchase of art & craft materials, stationery and promotional materials.
Cllr Stephen Doyle, chair of the Cabinet Grants Sub-Committee, said: “Our local voluntary groups do great work to make a difference to the local community and Tamworth Borough Council really values the effort they put in. In the case of the new Tamworth Have a Heart charity, this work can literally be a life-saver.”
He added: “We are pleased to be able to offer these small grants to help and support these groups as much as we can. If you have a community project, arts project or something that will make Tamworth a better place, please get in touch.”
Grants are available to community groups and voluntary organisations which run in the borough to allow them to develop and continue to provide their vital services. To apply for a grant, please contact Karen Clancy at Tamworth Borough Council on 01827 709709. The deadline for applications is December 1, but if more information is required, contact Karen by the middle of November.
