She’s his boss. He doesn’t care. This office isn’t big enough for the two of them…
When Rory Clarke ends up hiring the guy she spent one steamy night with to be her administrative assistant, she's determined to keep things professional.
Lucas Blaine has other plans for her. He wants Rory, and it’s hard to resist his stunning blue eyes, chin dimple and the way he fills out a suit. Everywhere she looks, there he is, giving her a panty-melting smile and pulling her away for the most amazing (and satisfying) sex she’s ever had in her life.
What starts off as one sexual encounter turns into multiple trysts in and out of the office and the lines she’d tried to draw so carefully are blurring. But the closer they get, the more Rory realizes that there are things about Lucas she doesn’t know, things he’s hiding from her. She’ll have to decide if she can surrender to her feelings or get out while she still can.
Sometimes I wish life had an abort button. I'd be pushing it right not to get out of this situation.
Lusting over the man you are interviewing for a job as your assistant=bad
Having hot wild sex with him when you think you will never see him again =really bad
Having to see him every day once he starts his new job as your assistant=torture
Aurora Clarke is Vice President of her father's company. She is in the market for a new assistant...enter Lucas Blaine. Their chemistry and sexual tension is hot from the moment they met. She does not plan on hiring him so what is wrong with scratching that itch to get him out of her system? It might have worked if she had not been kind of forced to hire him. So they are thrust together in close proximity in a work environment. Their rapport is flirty, funny, and full of innuendos. But how long can they go on denying themselves what they have already sampled?
"Just because you want something, doesn't mean you can have it..."
"Actually, it's been my experience that it does. I always get what I want, even if I have to work for it."
They are forced to keep secrets from those around them. And unfortunately Lucas has even more secrets that he refuses to share. So there are mysteries, omissions, secrets, and lies. There is forbidden desire and emerging feelings. And all of it could blow up in their face at any moment.
Lucas(Lucah) is confidant, cocky, sexy and used to getting what he wants. He is hot, sweet, sexy, and magnetic. But he has several issues bearing down on him causing stress, guilt, and fear. I really fell for Lucah. Even though he had secrets, I never felt like he was a bad guy and he seemed genuine, conflicted, but just unable to share.
This man was a deep well and I didn't think he was going to let me see the bottom. Not that I should try.
Rory is smart, independent, successful, and likes control. She has been burned by love before and was really in need of some male attention. She knows it is wrong, but Lucah's charms are hard to resist.
"You're so sexy when you think you're in control," he finally said.
Together they are fun, flirty, hot and passionate. And the forbidden element just added to the intensity. But they were also both intelligent, smart, caring and loving. I loved them together, but they have a lot of issues in their way.
Love with Lucah was something I couldn't control, and something I didn't want to control. Loving him was like surrendering.
This was a tantalizing inter-office romance with sizzle and sweet. I loved both of the main characters. They were likable, knew what they wanted, and neither was particularly weak or fragile. It was engaging and had a good dose of mystery, temptation, and tension. I kept trying to figure out what he was hiding and it had me guessing. I laughed, I swooned, I got frustrated, I pondered, and I hoped it would all work out some way. It was entertaining, humorous, steamy, and romantic.
I loved the side characters especially her outspoken fashion designer room mate Sloane, his troubled brother Ryder, her friends Marisol and Fin. They all already have little stories brewing that I could see being build upon for future installments in this series.
Thanks to Chelsea Cameron for providing me with an arc copy in exchange for an honest review.
