The PPRO Group will collaborate in Europe with Alipay to offer new payment options for online shoppers of AliExpress.
On AliExpress, Alipay provides secure, trustworthy and convenient online and mobile payment services. The PPRO Group will now manage payments using credit or debit card alternatives for AliExpress shoppers in Europe. The phased rollout, which commenced in January 2015, will focus on the three most important alternative payment systems in Germany and the Netherlands – giropay, iDeal and Sofortüberweisung – all three of which The PPRO Group already collaborates closely with.
giropay
giropay allows merchants to tap into German consumers through more than 1,500 German banks. Consumers with online banking can use giropay for free and without any registration. Upon checkout, the consumer selects the giropay checkout button, is directed to its secure online bank environment, logs in with their bank credentials and confirms payment. Merchants receive instant confirmation and can ship immediately.
iDeal
Similar to giropay, iDeal is easy to use and requires just a few simple steps on the part of consumers. In order to checkout the customer clicks on the iDeal payment icon; from a drop-down list, the customer selects his own bank, which opens the online banking environment he is familiar with. The customer simple authorises the prefilled payment instruction. As soon as payment has been authrorised, the amount due is debited from the customers’ account and transferred to the merchants’ bank account. As merchants know the funds are on the way, they can proceed with shipping or rendering the service immediately.
Sofort
Sofort is an online direct payment method and works on the basis of tried-and-tested online banking. The big advantage is you don’t need to register or open a virtual account, known as a wallet. It is an immediate and direct transfer of funds. Customers who select Sofort banking as their preferred payment methrod for an online purchase will be directed straight to the secure sofort.com payment form. All transfer data is carried over automatically so that you only need to enter your bank’s sort code along with your usual online banking login details and finally the confirmation code in order to authorise the transfer. The online merchant receives confirmation of the transfer order in real time and can dispatch the goods promptly.
