Hi,
Ever since signing up for TalkTalk Fibre Broadband I have suffered terrible ping/latency spikes which seem to just come and go completely at random making online gaming and streaming almost implossible. I've noticed quite a few topics on the forums regarding the same issue, most of which are still unresolved.
I have tried everything I can thing of to try and fix this problem short of swapping out the router as I don't have a different router to test with. It occurs randomly throughout the day upwards of 40-50 times an hour. The average speed of my line is around 28meg Down, 1.8meg up.
I have tried running ping tests through wired and wireless connections to the router and the problem still occurs. I am using the Talktalk HG633 Router as supplied and this is plugged directly into the master socket, there are no other extensions in the house which could be causing the problem and there are no PC's/Mobile phones etc which are heavily using the connection.
I think this must be either a router fault or something external to my house as previously I used to have normal Talktalk ADSL and never experienced packet loss and latency like this, see below ping test to www.google.co.uk:
I am a telephone engineer myself and currently do Hosted Unified Comms work on behalf of Talktalk Business and I have come across my problem before and a simple router swap seemed to fix the fault.
Would you be able to do any diagnostics remotely to see if there is anything wrong with the line/broadband service? If not, would you be able to send a replacement router for me to try?
Cheers,
Chris.
