What a day Junior had yesterday, all the last minute drama at the Reebok Stadium, a great home win for our Seniors yesterday. Could the juniors make it a double and pull off an away win at a very tricky venue.

Last week saw the Juniors record a good win at home to the same opponents, so we went with optimism that anything could happen on the day, all you've got to do is Believe

The side had two changes from last week, one of which was The Young Reporter making my Saturday afternoon debut this season. With the weather set fair and blue sky shining down, the roll up complete, here we go with the scores on the doors

Colebrook Triplex

Neville Hughes 21 Diane Hearndon 7

Tony Slat Nav 21 Keith Rawlings 20

Alan Bennett 16 John Hearndon 21

Paolo Cosnetto 21 Pete Murray 11

Trevor Tyler 15 Dave Bagley 21

Terry Neild 21 Barbara Darling 20

Peter Ricketts 15 Alan Darling 21

Benjamin Cosnetto 8 Megan Earlis 21

Jim Ursell 11 Martin Hines 21

Geoff Waite 6 John Newby 21

JUNIOR 21 Jim Devine 19

Neil Hunt 21 Paul Hearndon 19

Total Match Score 197 222

So we lose the match by 25 shots, with both sides having 6 winners each. Not a bad effort by the side considering, it's such a difficult green which was in excellent condition and running extremely well.

For us some notable performances especially Neville Hughes who trailed 7-1 and then somehow ( with some magnificent bowling ) ran out to win his match and with it the Dale Supermarket, well bowled Nev.

Father Cosnetto played really well also and showed what a good player he is, also with some great stuff ( bowled China lad )

Other wins for us, were close matches but the standard of bowling was excellent. Tony Slat had a ding dong match as did Neil Hunt but they were both victorious ( well bowled both )

However the longest match of the day featured Peter Ricketts and Alan Darling, walked on the green at 3.00pm and walked off the green at 4.15pm I thought at one point that they were still going to be on the green when Britain's Got Talent ( Junior loves a bit of #BGT )

I was very pleased with the way I played ( not playing bad at the mo )

against Jim. I quite enjoy playing on the green, I've had some wins and some losses which of course can happen on any green. You have to really concentrate as if you miss the land by a nats you can miss it by 2/3 yards sometimes.

I started off really well and led 5-1 and again at 18-9 but then Jim got me on a great little mark ( debatable if it was a mark ) and he bowled it really well, but to my HUGE credit I stuck with it and managed to get to the magical 21. Capped off a great day personally for The Young Reporter.

For Triplex, two single figure winning cards by Megan Earlis who beat our captain as well as Tony Newby.

Junior must say that he saw another star for the future in Megan, she played extremely well and Junior predicts that given a couple more years she could be a name to remember for years to come

Martin Hines also played well to defeat Jim, some very good bowling on show by both sides, and the game was played in a friendly spirit.

Some cracking food afterwards in the club, a big thanks to Diane and the rest of the Triplex members.

An enjoyable afternoon, even though we just missed out. Next week sees the Juniors taking on Drakes Drum at home. Junior hopes the weather is the same next week but the result is different.

This is Junior signing off for now, more reporting to come this afternoon/evening !!!

It only takes one bowl to win an end, Just Ask Junior.

PS. A HUGE well done to Johanne Todd who is in the process of securing us an exclusive T-Shirt contract which could be worth up to 4 figures. Well done Jo, Junior cannot wait to see the finished product/s
