I, like Lenny, am getting really fucking sick of the media and its attitude towards Celtic.
The Telegraph, yesterday, wrote "Here come Celtic... and it's Group H! Four former winners in that group, and three of them with a chance of qualifying..."
We all know about ITV's "bye, bye Celtic" tweet last year when they dismissed our Champions League ambitions as a joke, only for us to reach the knockout stages, equaling - and bettering, in the case of Chelsea and Manchester City - the record of English clubs in the competition last season.
On another thread someone mentioned MSN Sports evaluating all our Group H opponents' chances but not ours.
It doesn't just stop at treating our club with disdain.
On BBC Sport, the "Football" section is dedicated almost entirely to the English Premier League. If you want to read anything related to Scottish football you have to go to the "Scottish Football" section of the site. There's no "English Football" section as"Football" (without a qualifier) is generally understood to be English football. This, despite the fact that the BBC is the British Broadcasting Corporation.
You can expect updates to the transfer rumours column -which, of course, means English transfer rumours - at midnight on the dot. You'll have to wait until noon or later the next day for any Scottish transfer rumours -that's if they decide to put anything up at all.
The last point may seem really petty but it really undersells the game here in Scotland and gives us very little exposure whereas clubs like Hull Tigers, or whatever the fuck they're called now, are "front page" news, as it were. The way our game is treated by the "impartial" BBC is one of the reasons English fans are so fucking arrogant and ignorant when it comes to the Scottish game. We're treated like a pub league by the media so why would they think any different?
I know it shouldn't bother me but it hurts to see Celtic being treated as though we're unworthy of our place at the top of the table. We're champions of our country and we've had to come through three qualifiers this year, despite reaching the last 16 last season. Meanwhile, Arsenal - a club which has been trophyless for 8 years - enters the competition at the play-off round, contending for its 16th consecutive season in the Champions League proper.
