Arapahoe Community College was founded in 1965 in Littleton, Colorado. Presently we serve over 10,000 students per semester in our credit programs and over 6,500 students per year in our non-credit programs. We offer nearly 100 degree and certificate programs. Arapahoe Community College has campuses located in Littleton, Parker and Castle Rock, Colorado.

POSITION TITLE: Dean of Students

POSITION CLASSIFICATION: Administrative, Full-time

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Dean of Student a full-time 12-month administrative position reporting to the Vice President of Student Affairs. The Dean is responsible for providing overall leadership and coordination for student development and retention programs across the college and coordination of these efforts within Student Affairs. The Dean of Students has responsibility and supervision for multiple areas including: advising (including academic and career & transfer), student life, disability services, testing, veterans’ resources, conduct process appeals along with shared responsibility for Title IX/VAWA compliance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provide leadership and supervision for assigned areas, including program development, fiscal oversight, planning, assessment and evaluation

·Provide leadership in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan established by the College, furthering college-wide goals and initiatives

·Provide supervision, vision & leadership for employees in reporting areas, including evaluation, feedback, professional development, celebration of successes and identifying appropriate contributions.

·Coordinate, create and enhance services, programs & resources to serve veterans.

·Provide appeal level beyond the Associate Dean with due process and impartiality for standards of conduct violations in accordance with Community Colleges of Colorado System Policy (SP) 4-30 and SP 4-31.

·Ensure institution is in compliance with Title IX, VAWA, ADA and Section 504, including the design and delivery of appropriate educational and developmental programs.

Provide leadership & planning for student development including services and initiatives that support student access, retention and completion.

·Collaborate with the VP of Student Affairs and other college members to enhance or establish and implement a system of policy, program, and service review that ensures consistency with current, changing, and future needs of students and the community.

·Create programs and processes that enhance student retention & student development in collaboration with campus stakeholders.

·Identify, develop and/or enhance programs for special populations across campus to enhance student retention and completion, i.e. first generation, parenting students, LGBTQ, foster youth, veterans, underrepresented populations.

·Work to achieve and create a safe, bias-free working & educational environment, which engenders respect for differences and supports diversity objectives as established by the College, creating an inclusive environment for students, staff, faculty and guests.

·Other duties as assigned.

·Participate in interactive communication with the Vice President, conferring, consulting, and making recommendations for assessing & improving programs and services within student affairs division.

Minimum Qualification:

·Master’s degree in Student Development, Higher Education, Counseling or related field from an accredited institution.

·5-7 minimum years of experience in a student affairs, student development or related administrative position in higher education.

·3-5 years of demonstrated leadership skills, including supervisory and budgetary responsibilities.

·Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff of diverse backgrounds and evidence of a commitment to creating an inclusive learning & work environment.

·Understanding of student development theory and ability to apply theory to practice.

·Experience in assessment and program development.

·Effective written and oral communication.

Preferred Qualifications:

·Doctorate in a higher education or related field.

·Community college administrative experience.

·Enrollment management experience.

·Experience with Banner or related student information technologies & systems.

·Leadership or involvement at the system or state level.

·Problem solving skills including ability to find innovative solutions.

·Ability to work as a part of an administrative team and foster a team environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is generally confined to a standard office environment.

CAMPUS SECURITY AUTHORITY STATEMENT

This position has been identified by the Department of Education and Arapahoe Community College (ACC) as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). As a CSA, the incumbent in this position is required to report crimes that they become aware of immediately to the ACC Campus Police Department.

COMPENSATION:

Compensation is commensurate with education, experience and higher education industry standards. The anticipated full-time starting salary range will be $74,000 - $78,000. ACC offers a competitive benefit program including health, dental and life insurance.
