Post subject: DivX to iMovie-Import and Edit DivX files in iMovie

Posted: Today, 14:50

Summary: You may want to import DivX to iMovie (iMovie 11) to edit the files. However, iMovie does not support DivX importing. Fortunately, there is an easy way to fix this issue. Let's find it out here.

I have an AVI(DivX) file that takes 350mb; I go into iMovie and I create a new project, then I create a new event and click on import video. I go to the right directory, to the .divx file and click on import. The import window disappear and appear a loading bar that says something like "Optimizing the video..." and in 1 second it disappear (... I don't see the bar load). Nothing else happens, but the video is not imported. Why? How can I import DivX files to iMovie correctly?

I’ve post the issue on Apple forum, and some guys gave me the answers. I need to install Perian(As far as I know it hasn’t been updated in years, it won’t work on Mavericks 10.9) and DivX codec. If it still didn't work, I might try converting the DivX AVI video to iMovie compatible video and then try importing that into iMovie.

To encode DivX to iMovie editing-friendly format- Apple InterMediate Codec, what video app should I have. More than one guys recommend Brorsoft Video Converter for Mac. I’ve download and tried the software yet. It helps me convert DivX to iMovie in Mac OS X (including Mountain Lion, 10.9 Mavericks) in only 3 steps. Besides, this software can also convert other formats like MKV, MP4, AVI, VOB, FLV, MTS, WMV, XviD, XAVC, XAVC S, etc. to iMovie supported video format without zero quality loss. Now just check out the steps below to finish the conversion task.
