A new direction, with new devices – welcome to TabTimes 2.0!

In addition to our tease from two months ago, and our announcement for ultrabook coverage last month, help us celebrate the launch of TabTimes 2.0!

Don’t worry, we’ll still be covering the best Android, iOS and Windows tablets, we’re simply ramping up the coverage. Our team has grown over the past month with plenty of new faces bringing you even more of the great coverage you’ve come to expect. Perhaps you’ve already seen our coverage of the Macbook or a few other ultrabook and lightweight laptop pieces, we truly hope they bring you value and we’ve got a lot more coming. Next we’ll be adding the iPhone and much, much more so stay tuned!

We believe that ultrabooks, as well as the iPhone, laptops and more are a crucial part of the mobile computing experience, and while our partner sites Android Authority, SoundGuys and VRSource have a focus on their respective segments, TabTimes was the best place for our team to explore the many other facets of computing. With our favorite tablets adding physical keyboards to the mix, and packing specs that some laptops would be envious of, we’re excited to explore with you the world of ultrabooks, smartphones and more.

We’re also striving to attain hegemony over our partner sites, but that’s more just for fun; whether it’s here on TabTimes or across our sister sites, you can rest assured that we’re covering all of your technology needs.

iPad Air 3, iPhone 7 (or iPhone 6SE) and iPad mini 5 rumor roundup

Apple never really reveals what devices they’ll be announcing at upcoming events, but we’ve got confirmation of their next on-stage appearance for September 7th! We fully expect them to announce the next generation of iPhone, perhaps called the iPhone 7, but maybe the iPhone 6SE. We have hope that they’ll at least quietly drop a new iPad mini on us, that would be the iPad mini 5, but we are not expecting a new 10-inch tablet so soon. With the iPad Pro 9.7 still going strong, it may be next spring, or at least October, before we expect to see the iPad Air 3.

Dell XPS 15 review – watch out Apple

We believe that you are going to need to decide for yourself if Apple’s laptop and ultrabook offerings are better for your needs than a big, powerful Windows laptop; if you’ve made that decision or are completely on the fence, Dell has an intriguing offering for your consideration. The XPS line is proving highly capable, reliable and, to be fair, Windows 10 is proving to be a crowd pleaser in its own.

Check out our XPS 15 review, as with a few other similar laptop focused articles to get your mobile desktop fix.

With ultrabooks in full swing on the site, we enjoyed the opportunity to compare the latest Apple ultrabook, the MacBook 12, up against one of the workhorses from Dell, the XPS 13. Razer Blade Stealth review – it turns heads and it games like a champ

The next ultrabook to grace our desks was the Razer Blade Stealth. In all fairness, Edgar Cervantes has been using this powerful little laptop for a few months now, which means he knows what he’s talking about. Join us for a thorough and honest review of the Razer Blade Stealth, outside of which Edgar informed me that he loves this machine, but wishes he’d have opted for more powerful specifications. He also wishes the peripherals were not so expensive and admits that he’d far rather use his full size Razer gaming keyboard over the minimal-travel keys of the compact built-in keyboard.

If nothing else, the RGB lighting and controls make for a really fun, visually customizable machine, check it out!

Chromebooks leap forward, Chrome OS running Android apps is a reality

Many refuse to admit it, but Chromebooks are a big deal. Taking over many best selling lists, these lightweight laptops rock Chrome OS, one of the more streamlined operating systems around. For many, the lack of apps and programs have been detrimental to their Chrome OS experience, but Google is pushing forward with an initiative that changes this problem, at least for those that can get by with Android apps.

We’ve already seen this news, but each month since Google I/O there has been an update, a new release or feature that is pretty exciting for us, all of which mean that your next Chromebook may be the only computer you need.

IFA 2016 in Berlin

IFA is just getting under way in Berlin, Germany. While the official event doesn’t start until September 2nd, many manufacturers have been in the habit of holding announcement events in the days prior. To be blunt, this is why the TabTimes Monthly is a little behind this month, there was just so much great pre-IFA content that we needed a day to catch up. The short list: Huawei MediaPad M3, ASUS ZenScreen 15, ZenPad 3S 10, Lenovo Yoga Book, Yoga 910, Miix 510, Yoga Tab 3 Plus, Acer Swift 7 and the Predator 21 X (this one’s pretty cool, be sure to check it out.)

As I say, IFA hasn’t even started yet, stay tuned for more coverage. So much more coverage.
