A Democratic congresswoman is receiving scrutiny because she wrote a letter nearly 20 years ago commending a holocaust denier.
Rep. Marcy Kaptur of Ohio wrote a letter on official Congressional letterhead to Gregg Clemmer, a Holocaust-denier residing in Oregon, expressing her gratitude after receiving a copy of “David Cole Interviews Dr. Franciszek Piper: A Jewish Researcher’s Honest Look at WWII and Auschwitz,” which Clemmer sent to Kaptur and other members of Congress.
“Thank you for sending me a copy of David Cole’s video. Mr. Cole has obviously invested a great deal in researching his subject and I admire his tenacious curiosity.
“Again I thank you for sharing this documentary with myself and other Members of Congress.”

The letter was initially spotted by citizen Kenneth Ceron and later provided to The Daily Caller.
The Caller notes Cole appeared on Phil Donahue’s television program 20 years ago defending Bradley Smith, another Holocaust denier, by saying, “there is no proof whatever of homicidal gassing chambers, and no proof that even one individual was ‘gassed’ in a German program of genocide.’”
Cole has made the same arguments on the Montel Williams Show and 60 Minutes, where he said,
“The evidence saying that there were no gas chambers is a lot stronger than any of the evidence that can be presented saying there were.”
Cole now resides in Hollywood, where he changed his name in 1998 to David Stein, according to The Caller.
