On October 19–20, 2013, Pioneer Valley Fencing Academy will be hosting an historical fencing pedagogy clinic, taught by Dr. Ken Mondschein, Maître d’Armes Historique.
The weapon of instruction will be the longsword, but the pedagogical principles will be broadly applicable to all historical weapons. This will be the first such clinic in the Northeast and will prepare attendees to test for the certification of Moniteur d’Escrime Historique. Tests will be offered on Sunday.
This clinic will be equally useful to historical fencers wishing entry-level instructor certification and modern fencing instructors wishing to add historical fencing to their repertoire.
Fee is $130 USFCA member, $150 non-member. Hotel and travel information are available. Please contact Ken Mondschein at k e n (at) k e n m o n d s c h e i n (dot com) for details
Exams must be pre-scheduled, with fees paid and the written exam passed. Examinees must be USFCA members.
Attendees should bring proper protective gear, including sturdy gauntlets.
We will have several Hanwei “federschwert” longswords to loan out, but you may bring any reasonable training weapon if you have a matched pair (please pre-clear with Ken Mondschein).
Attendees are welcome to bring students at a reduced price of $20.
