It feels like an off-month for Netflix in May, with only a couple of interesting things joining the service and a bunch of classic and interesting films heading off. Firstly, the stuff that is joining. The Legally Blonde movies are coming to the service in addition to new seasons of stuff like Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown.
The more interesting stuff though is the great Fruitvale Station. It’s a tragic little movie about the death of Oscar Grant at the hands of a BART officer in Oakland, California. It’s a strong performance from Michael B. Jordan and a great job from director Ryan Coogler. This’ll be good to watch before their new Rocky movie Creed comes out. Other than that, Girlhood is supposed to be quite the movie and documentary Hot Girls Wanted, which is about young girls looking to get into the porn industry, did well int he festival circuit. Other good stuff: Inglorious Basterds, The Boxtrolls and a movie about zombie beavers.
As for what’s leaving, there’s a lot of good stuff like Skyfall and a couple of classic Audrey Hepburn films and RoboCop and Ichi the Killer and Airplane.
