On Thursday, Sept. 24, the Texas Midwest Community Network will be co-hosting a Governor's Small Business Forum along with the Texas Workforce Commission and Texas Governor's Office. The event will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1100 North 6th Street in Abilene.

After a brief welcome by Abilene community leaders and Larry Ruggiano, Office of the Governor, a presentation by Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas on the Skills Development Fund and other Workforce programs will follow. Panel discussions on Becoming a Workforce of Choice and Tips for Winning over Your Lender will proceed the lunch. Texas Workforce Commissioner Ruth Hughs will deliver the keynote address. Hughs will be speaking about the importance of small businesses in the Texas economy. Following lunch, a presentation on Marketing to be Different and a panel discussion on Procurement Done Right will follow. The Forum will culminate by recognition of outstanding regional small businesses by the Governor's Office.
