BROADWAY BAPTIST CHURCH
Life is full of mountains and valleys, high points and low points and days of rain as well as sunshine. Some days it seems that we are floating on the clouds while other days seem like the clouds are floating on us. Honestly, in between the ups and downs and the highs and lows are the simple days when nothing out of the ordinary happens. No amazing miracles happen. No unearthing troubles begin. Between the ups and downs are just ordinary days. That’s real life. That is “day to day” Christianity, and it is in those days we learn, we live, and we trust. I keep in my Bible a little quote that goes like this: “I believe in the Sun, when it does not shine. I believe in God, when He is silent. I know the sun is up there even on the darkest day, and I know when darkness veils Jesus lovely face, I can rest on His unchanging grace.”
Life is lived mostly on the uneventful plain of daily routine and through those days God is still God, He still on His throne, and we can always lean on His everlasting arms.

Please be praying for our student ministries as the kids of all ages head out this summer to camps and on the mission trip to help with Hurricane Sandy Relief efforts in New York. It’s going to be beautiful summer of kids meeting Jesus and taking Jesus to those who need Him.
We also invite you to step into The Growth Central Bookstore when you visit EFC. It’s stocked with Bibles, study aids, devotionals, marriage and parenting resources, worship music, inspirational gifts, original art and fiction books — there’s something for everyone. The bookstore is open between Sunday morning services, from 10:30-11 a.m. and 12:30-1 p.m.

FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH

There are many opportunities for service. If you have not received a church participation form, please pick one up in the church office. As members of the Body of Christ at First Baptist Church, we are all called to serve in one way or another. We have many areas of service available to you. Children’s Church facilitators are always welcome. Camp volunteers are still needed.
High School Camp will be June 9-15 at Estes Park, Colorado for grades 9-12. Middle School Camp will be in Brownwood June 19-23 for grades 6-8. Vacation Bible School will be June 24-27. P3 at Circle Drive will be July 8-11. Missions Camp will be July 30-August 2 for grades 3-5. Lad and Lassie Camp will be August 2 and 3 for grades 1 and 2. Day Camp for Pre-K and Kindergarten will be Aug. 3. P3 at Coral Cove will be Aug. 5-8. All the summer camps are tied together under one church theme: “Refuge: Who Is Your Strength?” with a theme verse of Psalm 46:1.
Vacation Bible School will be June 24-27 from 6-8 p.m. This year’s Vacation Bible School is entitled God’s Backyard Bible Camp under the Stars where kids have a blast serving Jesus. Outdoor adventure, fun backyard games, crafts, snacks and music are just outside your backdoor. The Backyard Bash begins soon so grab your friends and come on over. All are welcome.
We are in need of camping gear such as tents, lanterns, etc. Plastic water bottles or small plastic soda bottles are also needed for the Backyard Bash fun. Please contact the church office for more information.
We are in the process of forming a rotation of bus drivers to pick up children on Sunday mornings. If you are interested in driving, please call the church office.

Even though the present school year has come to a close, we know the summer months go by rapidly. With the new school year approaching in early August, our next community outreach is our “School Ministry.” Highland Heights will once again collect school supplies for needy students in the second and third grades at the East Ridge Elementary campus. A sign-up list is available at the back of the sanctuary to specify the articles and the number of each item that individuals choose to purchase. The collection will be delivered to the campus the first week of August.
Highland Heights congratulates all of the newly high school and college graduates. “Bless This House” calls upon prayer for these young people as they are making plans and decisions in pursuing their individual dreams. Life presents times of joy and times of difficulty. Pray they give God praise at all times and rely upon Him for strength and perseverance in their daily lives.
