Sweet Tart Beauty - Be your own kind of beautiful

It’s often so hard to feel like you look beautiful over the winter. Not only do you have to wrap up warm in chunky knitwear, but the cold air, rain and wind don’t treat your skin and hair very kindly. Here are some tips about how to stay beautiful this winter…

Wear Your Summer Clothes In A Different Way

A lot of people feel very uninspired by winter fashion. There are a lot of dark colours around and if forest green, navy and maroon aren’t your thing, and you’re hankering for summer’s pastels and neons, then you could always bring your summer clothes into the winter months too. The most important thing to do is layer – wear a warm turtleneck sweater underneath your flimsy silky summer dress, and go for thick woollen tights – which you can also wear with your summer sandals! Add a cosy hat and scarf for warmth.

Eat Well

It’s so tempting to go for only thick and stodgy food over the winter, but it’s important to do your best to resist. No one wants to go on a winter sun break with the knowledge that they’ve been packing on the pounds over the last few months, and it’s hard to get into spring when your clothes from last year feel a little tight! Focus on winter fruits and vegetables – clementines, grapes, grapefruit, avocados, sweet potatoes, and broccoli are all seasonal, and can make some incredible dinners and desserts without having to resort to unhealthier foods and plates packed full of carbs.

Keep On Top Of Your Skincare Routine

Your skin is one of winter’s biggest casualties. A lot of the time your face and hands will get sore and chapped by the winter cold, so make sure that you use a heavier moisturiser before you put on your makeup – and ensure that it has a high SPF, because the winter sun is just as damaging as it is in the summer! If you’re a fan of matte lipsticks, exfoliate your lips with a sugar scrub so they don’t look patchy, and make sure that you keep your lip balm on hand.

Buy New Staple Wardrobe Pieces

All of us need to update our staple wardrobe pieces like our coats at some point. Try to do that at the start of winter so you get a whole season’s wear out of it. You could go for a traditional navy or black overcoat that will always be chic, or a cosy rock chick green parka. If you’d rather go for a brighter coloured coat, try a pastel colour like pale pink or pale blue – or go for bright scarlet to really light up the winter streets. If you’re looking for a new formal dress, try looking online at sites like http://all-womens-dresses.com/formal-wear-women/ for a great choice that you can try on in your own home to find out what makes you feel good about yourself.

Keep Exercising

It’s definitely hard to force yourself out of the house on cold winter evenings to go and exercise. Join an exercise class like Zumba or yoga with a friend so you don’t have to force yourself out for a run, or purchase some weights for your home so you can exercise in the basement. Remember that it’s important to stay active over the winter – it pumps endorphins through your body and will make you feel much happier.
