Dear Mama and All chronicles, through firsthand accounts, Evans’ experiences as he makes the transition from simple rancher and son, to a soldier in the United States Army on the Pacific Front.
Arthur Ray Evans was born and raised in Ravendale, working as rancher until he entered the Army in the summer of 1942. Evans’ letters describe basic training at Camp Callan and deployment to Australia, New Guinea and the Philippines during the height of the Pacific battles in 1944 and 1945.
The 134 page book is illustrated with photos and ephemera that Evans sent home to family, along with images from the National Archives and the War Department.
