Fernley-Lassen Railroad Undergoes Inspection
October 7th, 1913

T.R. Rowlands, superintendent of the Salt Lake division of the Southern Pacific railroad, J.M. Tilton, general passenger agent at Reno and Otto Weeks, assistant superintendent at Ogden, left Sparks yesterday for Susanville, where they will inspect the new Fernley-Lassen branch, over which line the company expects to run regular passenger trains about October 15.

The new railroad will open up one of the richest agricultural and timber sections in Nevada between Wadsworth and Susanville.

Large planning mills are being erected in Lassen County and several companies have guaranteed to ship several hundred cars of lumber over the new road.

The branch at present is being handled by the engineering department of the Southern Pacific company but the inspection trip yesterday places the line in the hands of the operating department.
