Are you ready to rock my favorite Survive55 "Fervid Friday" Baby Boomer Followers?

Let's get the blood flowing this wonderful Friday morning with a couple of questions.

Do you consider yourself closely in touch with world events?

Can you successfully carry on a conversation about politics, religion or the economy while at a cocktail party?

Do you even attend cocktail parties?

Well, if you haven't figured it out yet, Fervid Fridays are all about fun, inspiration and motivation, so today I thought I would pass on a very cool quiz I found on the website Pew Research Center.

The Pew Research Center is a nonpartisan "fact tank" that informs the public about the issues, attitudes and trends shaping America and the world.

It conducts public opinion polling, demographic research, media content analysis and other empirical social science research.

Pew Research does not take policy positions.

That's right, unfortunately, or fortunately, you will have to put your thinking caps on for this one.

So, take a stretch, hit the bathroom real quick and refresh that cup of coffee because it's time to see if you know more about the news than the average "United Stater."

PEW RESEARCH CENTER
Let's test your knowledge of prominent people and major events in the news by taking this short 13-question quiz.

Then, let's see how you did in comparison with 1,000+ randomly sampled adults asked the same questions.

This quiz includes a mixture of multiple-choice questions using photographs, maps, charts, and text.

This is a fun quiz and I think the results will kind of shock you.

As you will soon find out, it surely indicates that the majority of "United Staters" like me don't know what's going on around them … both at home and abroad.

Good luck and have fun.

YOGI BEAR
So how did you do?

Are you "smarter than the average bear" as Yogi used to say or are you like me and not so completely surprised that you really don't pay much attention to world events?

I know everyone wants to see my score ( bar graph below) so here it is:  9/13.

That's 70%........ not even a passing grade in school is it?

I was surprised I did as well as I did since I can't remember the last time I actually sat down to watch the news.

Let me know what you think about this quiz.

Did you think the questions were relevant?

Is knowing all of this global information important?
