Surrey firefighters have rescued more than 850 people from flooded homes near the Thames in the last three days as water levels are set to remain high for at least a week.
Teams from Surrey Fire and Rescue Service, Surrey Police, the Environment Agency, the military and local borough councils have been working together to respond to flooding relating to nine severe warnings in place from the Berkshire border to Walton-on-Thames.
With current forecasts predicting Thames levels will remain high for at least a week, emergency services, local councils and the military continue to help those most at risk, especially vulnerable people.
Three of the four rest centres set up earlier this week in Elmbridge, Runnymede and Spelthorne have now closed because they are no longer needed. The remaining rest centre set up to help residents affected by flooding is at Woodham & New Haw Centre, Amis Avenue, New Haw KT15 3ET (Runnymede).
