Bergen County, NJ (PRWEB) October 24, 2013

On Friday, October 18th, 2013, the Northeast Spa and Pool Association, known throughout the pool industry as NESPA, held its annual Award of Excellence dinner and celebration where pool builders from New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and New Jersey, were recognized for their past years achievements in the design and construction of custom inground swimming pools. This year there were nearly 200 submissions to the competition, and several coveted awards were handed out to a select group of exclusive pool builders who exhibited prodigious skill in the designing, building, and implementation of luxury pool amenities. This year Cipriano Landscape Design of Bergen County New Jersey (NJ), took home the prestigious Best in Competition award (their second in the past five years) to highlight the firms success in the complex design and implementation of the groundbreaking Bedford, NY, violin swimming pool. Out of many worthy award candidates, the builder of the violin pool was recognized for its unique approach to the project, but most importantly, for its attention to detail. The violin pool is suffused with state of the art technologies, and every single detail of the pool was purposefully executed and tested to ensure its high level of operation.

First, the pool was finished with nearly half a million iridescent glass tiles, the floor of which consists of a custom gradient blend that transitions in every direction, unlike most gradient glass tiles blends which can only transition in two directions when working from a centerline. This required the staffs landscape architecture professionals to first map out every sheet of tile, and then during the installation have one individual who spent nearly two months ensuring that the tile color was blended properly, and correctly transitioned to the walls. The swimming pool design also includes two ponds, which were designed to resemble the bow of the violin. The ponds include see-through acrylic panels in the neck of the violin, which give the swimmer the opportunity to look into the two fish filled koi ponds.

The pool is also outfitted with an automated control system, which allows the homeowner to control every pool function from his iPhone, from any point around the world. Using this system, the homeowner has access to the music, lights, water chemistry, flow rates, and any other pool and landscape functions, at the tips of his fingers at all times. The pool also has an underwater surround sound system, which allows the underwater swimmer to continually hear music being played. The audio system is also synchronized through a computer to the fiber optic lights in the strings of the violin. This lighting display contains 5760 strands of fiber optics interlaced flawlessly through the glass tile, which are then wired to 40 illuminators. Every aspect of this pool is designed to engage the user, says Chris Cipriano, President of Cipriano Landscape Design. The combination of fiber optic strands and glass tile was exceptionally challenging, and to our knowledge had not been attempted previously within the pool industry.

The violin pool is an exact replica of a 1700s era Stradivarius violin, and in an effort to resemble the violin down to the smallest detail, the pool includes pertinent elements such as tuning pegs, upper and lower bouts, F-holes, purflings, and strings. Even the neck of the violin pool has darker color glass tiles, which represents the darker wood generally observed on the neck of a conventional violin. This pool is truly the first of its kind to be exhibited within the industry.

This exclusive pool also won NESPAs Gold award for Glass Tiled Pools, the Peoples Choice Award, and the Exceptional Recognition for Design & Build Award, due to its enterprising designs and its intricate installation. The Cipriano team faced various challenges regarding its design and implementation, however due to the collective team effort and vast experience, were able to overcome each obstacle to produce this one of a kind luxury swimming pool.
