Chapter 2 - Burgers, Flirts & Busts

Ronnie continued driving until they got to their destination. It wasn’t that far, just a little hole in the wall place that had been earlier that day. Once there, Liz hopped out and waved to the boys for them to follow.

Dean sighed, "Great", as he parked the Impala.

"Well, you got one wish at least." Sam teased.

Dean looked over at Sam before getting out,"Shut up"

Sam snickered as he headed off to follow the girls inside.

Andrew pulled up along side the Impala and parked.

Trixie looked at the place, "Can I even go in there?"

"I think it's okay Trix." Andrew said getting out of the car.

Trixie felt a little uncomfortable, but followed her big brother into the building.

Ronnie got out and hit the alarm button on her keys as she walked toward the door.

Liz glanced over her shoulder, seeing both Sam and Dean, as well as the other guy and the little girl following.
Andrew walked with his sister, keeping close to her. Everyone filed inside the building. Dean eyed the place as they walked in, "What a dump." Andrew followed them in and agreed it was a seedy looking place.

"We've seen worse Dean." Sam said quietly.

Ronnie took a seat at a booth in the back where she could face the door, it was just something she always did on the side of percaution. Liz sat in the booth beside Ronnie, since the others would be joining them. Dean grabbed 2 chairs from a neighboring table and let Sam and Trixie have the booth and motioned Andrew to one of the chairs before he took a seat in a chair himself. Andrew nodded and sat in the chair as well. Ronnie looked at the young girl and the other man skeptically, but didn't say a word. Sam let Trixie into the booth first, then sat beside her, almost seeming protective of her, like a brother himself. Liz watched them all sit down. "Alright, you wanted to know about us, then fine. Yes, we are hunters. We were at that house to get rid of the spirit that killed that family."

Dean glared, "Were you successful?"

Ronnie looked from Sam to Dean, "We aren't amatuers."

Liz nodded silently. "The evil brat was connected to the old swing in the back yard. We had to burn it to destroy him." She said a bit coolly.

Sam looked mildly impressed at that. "Really?"

Ronnie smiled at Sam, "Yeah really, That was a first for us. A spirit attached to an object. Never had that before."

Dean looked at Sam, "Interesting."

Trixie started remembering her vision, "The swing?"

Liz nodded slightly. "Yep, the swing." She said calmly.

Just then a server came up. "What can I get for ya'll?" She asked with a hand on her hip.

Dean looked up at her, "Coffee, black and double cheeseburger, extra onions."

Trixie cringed at the order her elder cousin made, she despised onions.

Liz arched an eyebrow. "Give me the same, but instead of onions, add Bacon." She said curtly. The server nodded as she jotted this down and waited for the others.

"I'll have a t-bone with a side of fries." Andrew said simply. "With Unsweet tea."

"The fried chicken with vegetables." Sam said. "And water."

Trixie smiled, "plain burger, just ketchup and a coke."

The server smiled, "One check?"

Ronnie smiled, "It's on me . One check please."

Dean tried to protest, "You don’t need to do that ."

"I insist," Ronnie glared at Dean.

"Don't argue with her." Liz said calmly. "What do you want though?" She said, looking to Ronnie, but not saying her name. Sam shook his head. She was petite, but fiesty.

Ronnie realized she didn't order, "Oh some cheese fries and a diet coke."

The server smiled, "Ok I'll have it right up for you guys." and she walked away.

Dean watched the server walk away before turning back to the girls, "Where did you get the info on the murder?"

Liz rolled her eyes. "Same place as you guys. We were just north of the town when we read about it in the paper so we came and did some investigating." Sam and Andrew listened quietly, intrigued by these girls.

Dean looked questionably at the girl he knew as Trisha, "How come we have never heard of you girls?"

Ronnie chuckled, "Maybe cause we didn't give you our real names, I'm Veronica, and this is.." She started but Dean cut her off

"Let me guess, Betty?" Dean laughed, "Where's Archie and Jughead?" Andrew snickered slightly at Dean's joke, but quickly stopped himself.

Liz gave Dean a tight smile. "You wish. My name actually is Elizabeth. And to be blunt, I'm looking at Jughead ."

Sam shook his head at that. "Oh brother."

Dean felt offended, "I think I'm more Reggie than Jughead."

Ronnie laughed, "I don't think so loverboy." Ronnie turned and smiled at Sam. Trixie watched the verbal tennis match and rolled her eyes.

Liz laughed a bit, the first sign of an emotion other than anger that she had shown since Dean and Sam had gotten close enough. "You are Jughead, from how much I get the feeling you like to eat."

Sam merely smiled at Veronica. She was cute that he knew. Andrew shook his head and glanced at Trixie with a smirk.

Dean laughed and grinned sarcastically, "Ha Ha" Ronnie rolled her eyes.

Sam snickered. "She does have a point Dean."

Liz rolled her eyes as well, then stood up, going over to the jukebox to pick out a song. She smiled as she came back from picking a song and AC/DC's Back In Black started playing. The server came over with everyone's drinks.

Dean took a sip of his coffee, "You have good taste in music."

Ronnie took a sip of her Diet Coke , she couldn't take her eyes off of Sam. Trixie took her drink eagerly and took a sip.

Liz nodded slightly to the server, then arched an eyebrow at Dean's comment. "Thanks." She said curtly as she sipped her coffee.

Sam shook his head, that was another thing Dean was so strange about, his music. He glanced at Ronnie, feeling her watching him. Andrew ran his hand through his hair, finding this to be somewhat unnerving. Ronnie smiled and looked away when Sam looked at her. Sam smiled faintly as Ronnie looked away. She was cute, very cute.

Trixie was really getting bored. Andrew glanced at Trixie. "Hey, go see what they've got on the juke kiddo." Trixie turned and looked behind her, no in the booth behind them. She climbed over the seat and went around to Andrew,"Money?"

Andrew chuckled as he watched her crawl out of the booth and then pulled out his wallet and handed her a couple dollars. Trixie took the money and ran to the jukebox, it was one of her favortie things to do. She knew her taste in music would probably drive everyone in the place nuts. Andrew smirked to himself, thinking they were all in for a surprise at Trixie's musical choices, but choosing not to warn them. He'd become used to her picks.

Dean sat his coffee cup down, "How long you girls been hunting?"

Liz tipped her head. "I've been hunting off and on since I was 16, Ronnie came into it with me, how long has it been?" She said, knowing Ronnie had known about her hunting at 16, but couldn't remember how long they'd been doing so together. Ronnie licked her lips when she noticed Sam's little smile, he was just gorgeous. Her thoughts were so wrapped around Sam that she almost didnt realize that Liz was talking to her, "Huh?"

Dean took another sip of coffee to hide the smile he had on his face, Ronnie liked Sam and he could see Sam showing interest in her.

Liz shook her head slightly. "How long ago was it you started hunting with me Ronnie?" Sam coughed slightly to hide his chuckle at Ronnie.

Ronnie thought for a minute, "It was after graduation, so maybe um, 5 years ago."

Liz nodded. "Yeah."

Dean smiled, "You got Sammy beat", he looked over at Sam and smiled.

Sam shook his head. "I'd been hunting with you and dad since I was old enough to shoot a gun Dean, I just decided I didn't want to and went to college."

"You were out of practice, It doesn't count." Dean said pointing at him

Ronnie glared at Dean, "You're such a jerk, he is your brother for crying out loud."

"Still pinned your ass to the floor, jerk" Same said sharply. Liz chuckled softly and picked up her coffee to take a drink.

"Whatever" Dean smiled at Liz then took a sip of coffee

Ronnie jumped suddenly, her phone was vibrating in her pocket, she quickly answered it, "Hello"... "What?"... "You are such an *******." then she hung up. She looked at Liz, "I need to go to the ladies, excuse me." She said as she grabbed her purse.

Sam arched an eyebrow, a little surprised that Dean hadn't called him a ***** in response. Perhaps he wasn't in his usual state of mind with the two girl hunters around. He then blinked at Ronnie heading off. Liz frowned. "'Scuse me..."
she said and followed Ronnie to the ladies room.

Andrew excused himself as well and went over to the Juke. "Nothing you like in there kiddo?"

Trixie browsed through the jukebox selection, "This sucks" she said, "This is all old people music."

Andrew chuckled. "It is old country mostly. Let's see if there's anything else..."

Trixie sighed," I have looked through all of it, it all sucks."

"You didn't see this." He said, flicking to the very last selections, finding one of the albums to be Good Charlotte.

"How could I have missed that?" Trixie said putting her money in the machine.

Andrew chuckled softly. "Not a clue little sister."

Trixie selected her 5 favorite songs and smiled," I am happy now"

"Good then." Andrew said softly.

Dean leaned on the table, " Got a thing for Veronica, little brother?"

Sam glanced at Dean. "Maybe, maybe not. What business is it of yours? You've been drooling over Liz since she smacked you with the door of their SUV." He said with a smirk.

"How long has it been since you got laid, dude?" Dean asked

"None of your business Dean." Sam growled.

"Oh come on Sammy." Dean smiled,"You can tell me."

Sam rolled his eyes and said nothing further to Dean.

"You suck Sam." Dean turned and looked toward the restrooms,"I wonder what happened?"

Sam shook his head. "Probably something about a boyfriend." He said softly, being more perceptive than Dean.

In the ladies room……
Ronnie ran crying into the bathroom, she turned to Liz, "Ryan is an *******"

Liz wrapped an arm around her. "What did he do Ronnie?" She asked softly, her demeanor totally different than it had been before. She always took care of Ronnie, she was the best friend she'd ever had and was the closest thing she now had to a sister.

Ronnie cried on Liz's shoulder, "He broke up with me, after 3 years he calls and breaks up with me on the phone."

Liz wrapped her other arm around Ronnie and rubbed her back. "Hey, haven't I been telling you what an ass he was?

You're better off without him. Now you're free to chase after Sammy Winchester."

Ronnie wiped her tears, "Liz, after that little scene he probably thinks I am a ***** or something." She looked in the mirror, "OH God!" Her makeup smeared down her face from crying.

"I don't think Sam would think bad of anyone unless they attacked him or someone he cares about. He's too white hat for that kind of thing." She chuckled at Ronnie's panic moment over her makeup.

Ronnie started plundering in her purse, and pulled out her makeup bag, "I'm probably not even his type. You heard him, he went to college."

Liz laughed. "Hardly, he's been eyeing you the entire time." She said as she smiled and leaned against the wall while
Ronnie put her face back on.

Ronnie smiled, "Has he? I havent noticed."

Liz grinned. "He's been trying to cover it, but he's been kind of making puppy eyes at you. Come on, our food should be just about ready by now."
Back at the table….
Trixie smiled as she went back over to the table, "Scoot Sammy, I dont want to be between you and Veronica's googly eyes."

Sam blinked suddenly at Trixie's comment. "What?"

Andrew snickered at Trixie's comment as he came and sat beside Dean again.

Dean laughed, "You tell him Trix." He leaned back in his chair.

Trixie looked at Sam and rolled her eyes, "Just move over" she said making a move gesture with her hand. Sam shook his head slightly and slid over on the seat. Andrew snickered slightly. Just then, two servers came over with the food plates and set them out for everyone.

Dean licked his lips, "Thank god!" he exclaimed before digging in. Trixie dug in as soon as it was set in front of her.

Sam shook his head at Dean and then picked up his fork and started on the veggies. Andrew grabbed up his fork and knife and started into the t-bone steak. Dean didn't speak , he just ate like he hadn't eaten in a days.

Liz managed to steer Ronnie out of the bathroom and back to the table and smiled. "What'd I tell you? Food's here and waiting for us."

"I dont need a guilt trip Liz." Ronnie said as she slid into the booth and realzied she was now sitting across from Sam. She smiled at him. Sam ate his food, smiling a little at Ronnie.

Liz laughed softly. She sat back beside Ronnie and picked up her burger and bit into it, having quite a healthy appetite.

Ronnie picked at her cheese fries, occasionally looking up at Sam.

Dean spoke with his mouthful, "This is good"

"EEW! Dean, you're gross." Trixie crinkled her nose.

"What?" Dean asked, with his mouth full of food. Trixie didn't answer just gave him a look of disgust.

"Try swallowing before you speak Dean." Sam said quickly. Liz rolled her eyes, Dean had no manners at all. Andrew ate in silence. Dean continued eating paying no mind to Sam or Trixie.

Sam noticed that Ronnie wasn't really eating her fries. "You alright?" He asked softly.

Ronnie looked up at Sam, "Just not really hungry, I guess."

Sam nodded, his green eyes a little concerned. "You sure? You seemed a little upset after that call you got." He spoke softly. Liz smiled at hearing Sam talking to Ronnie and bit into her burger again to keep from smirking after a moment.

Ronnie suddenly felt nerveous, she thought that if he knew she had had a boyfriend he might not be interested, Oh, what was she thinking that for, she just got dumped by her boyfriend of 3 years and she was worrying about what another guy was thinking, even though he was gorgeous. She smiled at him,"Nothing I can't handle."

Dean watched the interaction between the two and smiled, he thought to himself, Sammy's getting laid.

Sam smiled softly at her. She looked so nervous, but somehow that just made her seem even cuter. "If you're sure."

Ronnie smiled back, "Yeah I'm sure." She looked down at her plate of fries and bit her lip, then glanced up at Sam through her lashes. Sam was still smiling slightly as he half watched Ronnie.

Liz smirked, knowing Ronnie needed to let out some of her pent up frustration. Ryan had always been an ass, and probably added to the fact that Ronnie hadn't seen him in about 3 weeks hadn't exactly helped his attitude. She hoped Ronnie'd hook up with Sam, even if it was just for the night.

Dean finished chewing then turned to Andrew, "How long you been hunting now Andy?"

Trixie looked up at her big brother when Dean asked the question. Liz turned her attention to Andrew as well, a slow smile creeping on her face.

Andrew swallowed his bite of steak. "Well, I got started hunting, a little bit, when I was almost 13, but not too much. Dad had me watching over Trix most times when he'd go off hunting on his own. Wasn't until I was 16 I really got started in hunting. At 19 I had to take over totally since dad got himself killed on a hunt."

Dean patted Andrew on the back, "We got more in common that I thought Cuz." Then he took another bite of his burger.

Trixie had a sad smile on her face at the thought of their father. Andrew gave Dean a rueful smile. "Maybe."

Ronnie was so frustrated, she needed to kick some ass, or shoot something or.... she moved her foot started rubbing it against Sam's leg. Sam blinked at feeling Ronnie's foot against his leg. Ronnie smiled bashfully at Sam. Trixie put her burger down with a sigh when she saw Ronnie look at Sam the way she did. Sam smiled softly at Ronnie, but said nothing.

After a moment Liz leaned over and whispered in Andrew's ear, "Play along..." She whispered, but no one else could hear her. Dean looked at Liz curiously when she whispered to Andrew. Liz continued to whisper in Andrew's ear, mostly just telling him how to play along and make it seem like she was whispering other things to him. He smiled, almost wolfishly, knowing she was doing this to try and get on Dean's nerves, but it looked more like the kind of grin Dean would get when a girl was telling him the kind of things she wanted to do to and with him.

Dean watched the look that went across Andrews face, he knew that look. Dean didnt want to start a fight with his own cousin over a girl. He started thinking that he was losing his touch.

Ronnie moved her foot up and it was now by Sam's knee. Sam cleared his throat slightly, feeling a little uncomfortable, but strangly enjoying it as well. He hadn't had a girl openly flirting with him for a while. Trixie was getting grossed out because of all the mushy affection going on around her.

Liz continued to whisper to Andrew for a few more minutes, then she and Andrew suddenly stood and disappeared.

Dean and Trixie turned and watched Liz and Andrew leave, both turned back abruptly when Sam cleared his thoart. Ronnie coughed slightly and moved her foot away from Sam and picked at her fries some more, which were now cold. Sam returned to his now cold vegetables and chicken.

Trixie sighed, "What an ass" she said refering to her brother but not stating it.

Liz and Andrew both stayed gone for a good 20 minutes. Liz came back first, looking as calm as she had before. She grinned as she slipped into the booth by Ronnie. Ronnie leaned over to Liz, "What the hell?"

Andrew came back with a look on his face Trixie knew well, like he was trying very hard not to laugh at something.

Dean raised an eyebrow at both Liz and Andrew when they returned, "You two have a good time?" He asked sarcastically. Trixie gave her brother a disgusted look. Andrew crossed his eyes at Trixie, something he only did rarely and when he was being completely goofy, which was a clue to her that nothing happened. Trixie started to laugh at Andrew, but covered her mouth.

Liz leaned over and whispered to Ronnie. "A little mind game only, nothing happened." She then looked at Dean and smiled. "Maybe we did, what's it to you?"

Ronnie rolled her eyes and turned and did a slightly chuckle. She was suddenly feeling a bit ashamed about the whole footsie episode with Sam. She looked up at Sam hoping to see something in his eyes that was reassuring. Sam managed a smile at Ronnie. He hadn't meant to upset her. Ronnie's nerves eased up a bit when Sam smiled at her, she felt the reassurance she was hoping for. Sam glanced back at his food, feeling uncertain now.

Dean looked between Liz and Andrew and shook his head.

Andrew smirked. "C'mon kiddo, we should get going." He said, trying to get Trixie to finish eating her burger as he went back to eating his steak.

Liz merely smiled as she picked her burger up and started eating again.

Dean turned to Andrew, "Well it was good to see you, dont be such a stranger." Dean patted Andrew on the back.

Trixie just stared at Dean, "dick" she said under her breath.

Andrew nodded to Dean. "Good seeing you too." He said calmly. He heard what Trixie said but managed to keep a straight face. He flagged down the server and got him and Trixie to-go boxes. Liz was calmly eating the last bites of her burger.

Andrew stood with the to-go boxes. "Catch you later."

Dean looked at Trixie, "You be careful out there, kid." Trixie rolled her eyes.

Dean nodded to Andrew, "Later man"

Andrew nodded and escorted Trixie out.

Ronnie looked at Sam, "So, Sam, you went to college? What were you studying?" She took a sip of her coke.

Sam glanced up and smiled again. "I was studying Law." He said softly.

Ronnie sat her coke down, "Wow how boring compared to this huh? If I would have gone to college, I'd have studied computer programing." She smiled at him.
"Computer programming? You must be a whiz at the computer then." Sam said with a grin.

Ronnie smiled, "I am alright, I don't like to brag."

Dean watched the exchange between Sam and Ronnie.

Out in the parking lot….
Andrew laughed. "Oh God, the look on Dean's face..." He snickered as he made his way to the car and opened the door for Trixie.

Trixie put her hands on her hips," What did you do?"
