a web site

Creat a web site for a person or character either real or imaginary. This project will include many skills.

This does not need to be a serious profile feel free to be creative with the character and their profile, Go as crazy as you like just make sure you hit all the requirements.

Requirements

You will need at least the following pages:

A home page

The character’s professional profile will be displayed here. You should include paragraphs about the person. Where is the person from? What do they do? How did they get to this point in their life?

The page should summarize who the person is and what they do. An image of the person is necessary

A favorites page

Just like before, this should include a list of favorite things for the person or character. You must include an ordered nested list with different numbering schemes for each level.

A style change page

This page will allow the user to “play” with your web page.

You must have only one of the following

A page with 2 text boxes where the user can enter a color value for the font and background color, a button for the user to press, and a sample paragraph which will update to the colors the user picks. When the user clicks the button, the paragraph font and background color must change to the user input values. You must use JavaScript to change the colors of the font and background and the page should not submit when the user presses the button. You must also use JavaScript to make sure the user entered a value into atleast one of the text boxes when they press the button. If both text boxes are empty an alert should come up explaining so.

A page with ONE image element and 3 buttons. When the user clicks on the buttons the image element is updated with a new image.

A page with 4 paragraphs stacked one on top of the other but in such a way that each paragraph has an area where the mouse can reach it. When the mouse is moved on one of the paragraphs, that paragraph becomes the top one in the stack. The trigger is the mouse entering the paragraph, not a click. The paragraph should stay as the top paragraph until the user moves the mouse on a different paragraph. Use a different background color for each paragraph.

A page to where a user can purchase something.

The person you are designing this page for offers something for sale and you must create a form where the user can buy it. The items for sale are up to you but try to make it match with the profile of the person you are making this for. If you are a superhero, maybe the things for sale included a used cape, or a fake disquise. You can sell just about anything, as long as it’s school appropriate.

You must have at least 3 things to sell.

The form must be a table and the table must look like this

Items

Item Cost Quantity

Item 1 $xx.xx

Item 2 $xx.xx

Item 3 $xx.xx

The quantity column must contain a text box where the user can enter how many of each item they want.

The form must also include inputs for the user name (first and last), address, city, state, and ZIP code.

The form must also include the options of payment. The available options are cash, check, or credit card. These must be presented as radio buttons and only one is selectable.

The form must have a submit and reset button.

When the user clicks the submit button, you mus use JavaScript to verify the following

ALL of the user information is entered.

The quantity fields contain valid numbers, if they are filled out.

If everything is valid, the form must submit to a PHP script which will output the following

The user information including name, address, city, state, and ZIP.

Some sort of organized output of only the items the user purchased.

A subtotal for each item.

A total for everything.

What the user selected as a payment option.

RULES

You must use CSS for ALL styles on all pages: you are not allowed to use any style tags such as or style attributes such as bgcolor. Do not use the style attribute in your HTMl pages.

WAI is a new advertising firm, and they are currently hiring staff, establishing two locations, and have a need to get their internal IT services configured. The firm does not yet have an IT staff, but when they do, the IT staff will take over all aspects of IT administration. You are required to supply WAI with a solution that describes the implementation and configuration of their core IT services. The cost of the implementation is not expected to exceed the company’s budget and so does not have to be considered in this solution. WAI wishes to implement a solution will meet the company’s needs for the next 2-3 years. There are several details about WAI which will have an impact on your choices: 1. WAI will start with 300 employees, in the following departments: a. Executives (10 employees) – manage and run the company b. Accounts and Sales Department (150 employees) – perform market research and maintain accounts c. Creative, Media and Production Department (100 employees)- advertising d. Human Resources and Finances (30 employees) – perform HR and financial duties e. IT (10 employees) -manage IT for the company 2. WAI will have two sites, one in Los Angeles and one in New York. A secure tunnel (using IPSec) will be established between the two sites so that inter-site traffic will be securely tunneled over the Internet. You may make whatever other assumptions you wish about intra-and inter-site connectivity. 4. Security mechanisms (e.g., firewalls, intrusion detection) will be handled separately, and there is no need to describe them. 5. Some departments will want their data to remain private from other departments (e.g., Finances personnel will not want Production staff to see tl1e company’s financial details). Identity Formation

We have learned that adolescence is a time of transition between childhood and adulthood. A critical milestone of this stage is the ability to successfully achieve a sense of identity. Around the world, there are different rites of passage to mark the transition to adulthood. In the United States, this might include obtaining a driver’s license, landing one’s first job, senior prom, or high school graduation. In this assignment, we will explore the role that family and society play in the development of the individual’s sense of self. Create two documents for parents of minority teens 1) A 9–12-slide PowerPoint presentation (complete with speaker’s notes) and 2) an accompanying 1–2-page handout/flier in Word document or PDF format. Be sure that both illustrate the following:

Describe common rites of passage from two cultures around the world and compare them to a common American rite of passage. Possible resources might include National Geographic and the Argosy University Online Library.

Compare and contrast these rites to common US rites of passage. Do they coincide with the physical, cognitive, or socioemotional changes taking place at this age? Describe which specific changes (physical, cognitive, or socioemotional) they coincide with. Does this explain their importance in a particular culture?

How might such a social ritual, such as a rite of passage, influence the identity formation process of adolescents?

In light of Erikson and Marcia’s theories, discuss how the process of identity development is affected when the adolescent belongs to a minority group (racial, ethnic, sexual, or religious). Be sure to explain these theories and how they apply to identity development.

Summarize research from at least two peer-reviewed* studies on the effect of minority status on identity development, ensuring you describe the main findings of the study as well as the research methods used to study the topic.

Apply the information you gathered from the online notes, textbook, and research articles to provide at least three practical recommendations for what the family, school, and community can do to ease the process for adolescents.

*Peer-reviewed means an article from a reputable journal, which can be found in the Argosy University Online Library. Peer reviewed indicates that other professionals in the field have reviewed and deemed it worthy of publication, in contrast to much if what we find online: someone posting something he or she wants to, without someone else verifying that the research methods were rigorous enough and the study is valid. Use your textbook and course lectures as your primary resources, as well as articles from the Argosy University Online Library. If you must supplement from a website, do NOT use .coms. Instead, look for .org, .gov, and sometimes .edu for more reputable sources. Never use Wikipedia or about.com.

This assignment is worth 300 points and will be evaluated according to the rubric. Study the rubric carefully before you start work and refer to it periodically to complete this assignment.

Deliver the slideshow and the handout/flier to the M5: Assignment 1 Dropbox.
