Astrorun from Holymountain Games

Astrorun is a highly addictive though painfully challenging endless runner that follows the tales of an astronaut that has found himself (or herself) in quite the predicament. You have found yourself quite a ways away from your space ship, and as luck would have it that’s exactly where you want to be. Getting there wont be easy though. Your path is filled with relentless dangers and mindblowingly large gaps that must be avoided either by switching gravity or by jumping. It isn’t going to be an easy task. Are you up for the challenge?

Core Miner from Utility Function Software

Core Miner is a combat-free mining game that takes place in the deepest depths of space. Wait, there’s no combat? That’s right. I’m pretty sure it’s safe to say that almost every space-based game ever released has had you worrying about an imminent death by either space pirates or aliens. However, Core Miner takes a much more peaceful approach to things.

You are a space miner that unfortunately finds himself deep in debt. That sucks, but thankfully he’s got a pretty good plan to deal with this. He’s going to use his handy dandy mining craft to mine for rare minerals from an infinite number of asteroids and then sell his findings to pay off his debt – or to buy new upgrades for his craft. I guess it’s really up to him (err.. you) to decide how he spends his hard earned money.

Core Miner is a peaceful resource gathering space-sim that will keep you busy for a very long time thanks to it’s procedurally generated content. If you’re looking for something a little different you absolutely need to give Core Miner a whirl.

Cosmic Balance from DrawIndustries

Cosmic Balance is a Marble Madness-esque platformer that’s about making your way through each of the game’s levels by overcoming a variety of obstacles (both static and dynamic) and making it to the level’s exit. There are similar games to Cosmic Balance on Google Play, but Cosmic Balance throws in some fantastic touches to make it stand out as something truly special.

Firstly, this game features a stunning 3D world that is filled with beautiful colours and great lighting and shadows. The world looks great and it’s a lot of fun to explore. Thankfully that’s easier than ever too thanks to the game’s three different input methods. Want to use a joystick? You can do that. Prefer simple touch controls? You can do that too. How about trying out your devices accelerometer? Yeah, that’s an option too.

Cosmic Balance is available with ads for free on Google Play or an ad free version can be yours for just $0.99. Roll on over and check out Cosmic Balance today!

Deep from Thinking Rabbit

Deep from Thinking Rabbit is a game that’s all about freediving. You will be training your diver to be the best diver he can be. You will be entering freedive competitions where you will gain XP that can then be used to upgrade your character. Maybe you’ll win some competitions, maybe you’ll lose some, just make sure you don’t let your character drown! This game features permadeath, whether you like it or not!

Deep is a unique experience that is unlike anything I have seen before. It is currently in it’s beta testing stage but it’s still worth taking a look at if you’re in the mood for something a bit different.

EggOh! from Unravel Games

EggOh! is a fast-paced arcade action game that is all about feeding cute little goblins. The great flapping bird has been flying around overhead and dropping colourful eggs down to the ground. Luckily for you these eggs just so happens to be goblins’ favourite thing to eat… well, so long as it’s the same colour as they are. By swiping left or right on your device’s screen you will move the egg so that both the egg and the goblin match up. It’s all pretty simple. Oh, but there is one more thing. After a goblin has eaten five eggs he’s going to need some time to digest his food before he’ll be ready to eat some more. You’ll have to tap on his belly to get that food to make it through his system properly. If you’re not quick enough it’s going to be game over for you!

EggOh! is an extremely fun arcade action game that gamers should definitely check out. It’s a free download on Google Play so make your way over there and download EggOh! today!

Galaxy Defense Force HD from Game Chefs

Galaxy Defense Force HD is a colorful new spin on the tower defense genre. Think of it as a sort of hybrid between a space shooter and a TD game. You control a rotating space station that fires it’s weapons outwards towards incoming enemies. It’s up to you to destroy these ships and stay alive for as long as you possibly can. As you destroy ships you will earn cash that can be used to add some much needed upgrades to your station. GridKill from Zsolt Bartok

GridKill is a game unlike anything I have ever played before. It is essentially a fast-paced multi-touch grid-based arcade game with a killer retro-pixel art style – and it’s one heck of a lot of fun! You’ll be given a grid that is filled with both mines and targets and it’s up to you to hit the targets and avoid the mines at all costs. To determine your desired coordinate you will select both a row and a column to create an intersecting point.  It’s all easier than it sounds and gamers will be able to grasp the rules in just a matter of seconds.

GridKill is a unique multi-touch action game that gamers need to take a serious look at. It’s a free download on Google Play so be sure to download it today!

Let There Be Life from Backward pieS

Let There Be Life is an award-winning game that’s about building trees and playing with wildlife. Well, I guess it’s not completely fair to label Let There Be Life as a ‘game’ per se. It’s more of a relaxing sandbox experience, if I may. Your goal is quite simple: place the provided branches to build a magnificent tree. Simple enough, but it’s probably a good idea to build your tree in a way that allows sufficient light to reach the other plants and branches in the level. You’ll have to put your creativity to good use in Let There Be Life, but that certainly isn’t a bad thing.

Let There Be Life is a relaxing puzzler of sorts that combines unique easy-going gameplay together with a beautiful watercolour art style to make an experience unlike anything you’ve likely seen before. Best of all it’s a game that’s easy to recommend for gamers of all ages.

Louis from Team Louis

Louis is an addictive new endless runner/shooter that follows the crazy escapades of Louis the Worm. As a worm your goal in life is to dig your way through a variety of fruit. Sounds simple enough, but strangely this fruit is far more dangerous than anything I have ever encountered (thank gosh)! The fruit is filled with a huge plethora of deadly traps and obstacles and for good measure there are even some massive boss battles to keep you on your toes!

Louis is an incredibly charming endless runner/shooter that shouldn’t be missed. The fun gameplay meshed with plenty of unlockables is sure to keep gamers busy for a while. Don’t let this gem slither past you!

Munin from Daedalic Entertainment

Munin, an exceedingly popular atmospheric puzzler, has finally made it’s way from Steam to Android. Through a mixture of both platforming and puzzle gameplay Munin tells a story about trials and redemption. You take control of a fallen demi-god that has lost her powers and must make her way through the perils of the underworld to get them back.

Your goal in Munin, like in most platformers, is to to make it to the end of the level. However, getting there isn’t going to be an easy task. You must actively manipulate the game world in order to move forward – and some of these puzzles are real brain benders! You’re going to need to do some logical thinking if you hope to make your way through this game, but that certainly isn’t a bad thing.

Munin is a brilliant puzzle/platform hybrid that really comes to life thanks to its strong storyline, highly detailed world, and challenging logic-based puzzles. You can pick it up now for just $2.99 on Google Play.

Pop Bugs from Henchmen Interactive

Pop Bugs is a new arcade-puzzler that’s about popping bugs and creating chain reactions. Just tap on a bug and it will pop. Depending on the type of bug it might do one of many things: it might simply pop the bugs close to it, it could shoot out pop-happy stingers, or it might even explode in volley of fireballs – and that’s just naming a few! There are a tonne of bugs to that all have their own unique abilities and it’s up to you to learn them so you can complete the puzzle-y stages in a few pops as possible. The bugs can be upgraded too so that they can boost their powers and hopefully improve your overall score as well.

Pop Bugs is a beautiful new arcade puzzler that gamers can’t afford to pass up. It’s a free download so be sure to download it today!

Quado from Tomas Trajan

Quado takes a colorful new spin on the classic Arkanoid/Brick Breaker genre. At first glance you’ll probably be thinking that Quado has taken a step backwards in the gameplay department because of it’s lack of power-ups. Quado doesn’t need these though as it stands out as unique thanks to it’s ‘endless’ gameplay focus.

In Quado the player is given just one ball to break as many bricks as they can. After each screen is cleared they will be given a points boost and be sent to destroy the next puzzle. Your goal: decimate as many blocks as you can before losing your one and only ball.

Quado is a fun take on the Arkanoid/Brick Breaker formula. If you like classic arcade games you’ll need to give this a download right away!

Rune Lords from DS Studio

Rune Lords is an interesting mix of RPG, card games, and rune drawing that takes place in the land of Errath. These lands have been taken over by the self proclaimed Rune King and it’s up and your army of rebels to help free the lands and return the peace that was once there.

On your journey you will craft a powerful team from over 60 hero cards that you will bring into battle against a variety of enemies and monsters. You will collect, fuse, and promote your heroes and you can activate their special skill by drawing a special gesture on the screen.

Do you have what it takes to bring peace back to the land? Find out by downloading Rune Lords for free from Google Play!

Rush to Adventure from Digital Awakening

Rush to Adventure is a retro-styled adventure game that has seen some obvious inspiration from oldschool NES classics – namely, at least in my opinion, Zelda 2. You have landed on an island that is having a serious problem with monsters. So much so that the island has almost been entirely overrun! Thankfully though there are a couple of islanders still kicking around that are more than willing to send you on quests or sell you their wares.

Each battle in the game will have you entering a short stage that you must make it to the end of. It’s up to you if you want to collect the coins and kill the baddies – but it’s probably a good idea to. The XP you gain can be used to increase certain characteristics and the coins can be used to buy new items and equipment.

Currently Rush to Adventure is in it’s Alpha stage of development which means that gamers will only have access to a small amount of content at the moment. That said the content that exists here is top notch and definitely worth checking out. This is one game I’m going to be keeping a close eye on.

The Shaft from MapleScot Development

The Shaft is an arcade game that has you piloting a drop-shift down an infinitely deep hole in the ground while avoiding the walls at all costs. The ship is controlled by tilting your device to from side to side and if things get a bit too fast you can activate the reverse thrusters by touching the screen. It’s simple but addictive and the inclusion of achievements and leaderboards through Google Play Games Services add an almost infinite amount of replayability.

Soundscape from Further Game Studios

Soundscape is a music-based endless runner that is a masterful blend of a 3D abstract art style, hugely addictive gameplay, and of course a seriously awesome soundtrack. Your goal is simply to stay on the game’s track by changing your direction at the appropriate time. It’s straight forward concept, but that’s not a bad thing at all. It is an all around beautiful game that all gamers should experience.

(My description doesn’t really do Soundscape justice. Watch this gameplay video and let the gameplay speak for itself: Soundscape – Speed of Sound: Tutorial gameplay video)

Squid Slash from Pixels on Fire

Squid Splash is a unique fast-reflex arcade game that takes a fun new stab at the Timberman ‘genre’. The idea here is more or less the same: cut down the squid’s tentacles while avoiding spikey-pointy things. However, that’s about all it has in common with the genre. To mix things up you’ll be cutting down three tentacles at once while avoiding spikes and falling oil drops. It’s a lot to focus on, but that’s what makes this game feel so fresh and new.

The controls in Squid Splash also require a bit more attention too. Rather than tapping on either side of your devices screen you left and right arrow to move your character and a right and left attack button to slash in the appropriate direction. It adds a nice added layer of challenge to an already addictive gameplay style.

Squid Splash is a fast-paced arcade game that takes a fun new spin on the Timberman ‘genre’ by adding new controls and more obstacles to avoid. It’s got a darn good looking art design behind it too. Download Squid Splash today for free from Google Play!
