Beyond Gravity from Qwiboo

Beyond Gravity is a procedurally generated space-based platformer that reminds me of the hit indie game Little Galaxy. The basic premise between the two games is quite similar: jump from planet to planet while collecting goodies along the way. Though the games do share some obvious similarities there are a lot of differences that really make the two stand apart from one another. For instance Beyond Gravity sports a wonderful old-cartoon style of graphics that run at a buttery smooth 60 fps, there are a tonne of unique and challenging goals and upgrades to unlock, and the game supports achievements and leaderboards through Google Play Game Services.

Beyond Gravity is a great time eater that shouldn’t be missed out on. I have already sunk in a good chunk of my own time into this one and I’m sure I’ll sink in a lot more over the weekend. Be sure to check this one out today!

Blackmoor from Mooff Games

Blackmoor from Mooff Games is a highly polished homage to classics games like Castlevania and Street Fighter that features over the top gameplay, terrific visuals, and a tonne of hilarious gaming references. It’s easy to point out that the majority of Android fighting games on the market are aimed at the more casual gamer, but that’s not the case with Blackmoor. Blackmoor is tough! I assure you, you will get your ass kicked from time to time – but that’s exactly how a sidescrolling fighter should be.

Blackmoor is a truly absurd game that brings awesome old school action to Android. Head over to Google Play right now and grab this gem for the ever so wonderful price of free!

Candy Chomper from Daniel Silveira do Nascimento

Candy Chomper is a fun puzzle game that’s all about eating candy. You must help Chompy eat each and every piece of candy in the level – and this can only be done by eating the candy in the correct order. The rules: you are only able to jump vertically or horizontally across the board, and you can only eat candies of the same colour or shape as Chompy. With just two rules you might think the gameplay would be exceedingly simple but I ensure you that the level of challenge present in Candy Chomper is sure to challenge even the most hardcore puzzle gamers out there.

Candy Chomper comes with an infinite number of levels that are spread across four difficulty settings, it features achievements and leaderboards through Google Play Games Services, and best of all it’s free! If you’re looking for a unique puzzler you must check out Candy Chomper today!

Cute Chopper from Metrik Games

Cute Chopper is a totally bizarre arcade game that is all about chopping wood. You take control of a demonic lumberjack who is out in the beautiful outdoors that is trying to chop some wood. It seems like a simple enough task, right? Well, it would be if it weren’t for the adorable forest critters that keep jumping onto your cutting block! What are they even thinking!? You may be a demonic lumberjack but that doesn’t mean that you want to see the demise of your cute forest buddies!

So the goal is simple: chop as many logs while avoiding hurting any forest critters. Simply tap on the demonic lumberjack to swing his axe when a piece of wood appears on his cutting block – just watch out for the forest critters! Hit one of those and you’ll lose yourself a life. You’ve only got three lives so you better be careful!

Cute Chopper is an incredibly fun arcade game that can be played either solo or via a same-device multiplayer mode. It also features both achievements and leaderboards through Google Play Game Services. Best of all it’s a free download so be sure you check it out!

Colligo from Carl Karjalainen

Colligo is about as simple as arcade games get. White and black blocks fall from the sky and it’s up to you to change the colour of the ground to that of the next block to make contact. Just tap on the screen to switch between white and black – it’s that simple.

Though the concept is simple the gameplay gets more than a little hectic in no time at all. If you’re still looking to make things even more challenging Colligo also has four difficulty modes, achievements to unlock, and online leaderboards to master (both through Google Play Games Services). There’s sure a lot of gameplay to be found in Colligo so be sure to download it today!

Damn Little Town from Lumarama

Damn Little Town is a tactical board game that feels like a mixture of the survival genre with elements of Carcassonne. The gameplay is split into two phases: firstly you will build you town and place your settlers, and secondly you will try to escape from the town – which has now been corrupted. It’s an interesting twist on what feels like a classic board game formula.

Damn Little Town can be played as a single player game where you’ll be able to face off against 1 to 3 AI opponents but where the game really shines is through it’s multiplayer mode that can be played by up to 4 players on the same device!

Damn Little Town is without a doubt one of the best pass-and-play games to be released on Google Play. If you’re looking for a fun game to play locally with your friends – or even if you just want to play solo – Damn Little Town is a game you must check out today!

FFFFF2P from Elevate

FFFFF2 (Free Free Free Free Free 2 Play) is a retro arcade platformer that is a sort of satire on Free 2 Play games. The game is filled with tongue-in-cheek references to the often ridiculousness of F2P games – primarily through their bombardment of in-game ads. In fact that is what the gameplay in FFFFF2P is all about!

Your goal is quite simple: run and jump around the game screen while doing your best to avoid the falling ad-blocks. The best way to survive is to jump on the blocks to close them – which also provides the gamer with the in-game currency. This in-game currency can then be used to buy upgrades that come in the form of, well, more in-game currency! Hooray!

In addition to the fun gameplay and tongue-in-cheek humour FFFFF2P also features a fantastic retro art and sound design, and achievements and leaderboards through Google Play Game Services.

FFFFF2P is a fun retro arcade platformer that absolutely deserves your attention. Download it today for free on Google Play.

Heartbreak from Cybearg

Heartbreak from Cybearg is a refreshing new take on the classic ‘brick-breaker’ style of gameplay. In the game you will bounce a ball inside of a circle with the goal being to break each individual section. You’ll rotate the circle by swiping on the screen – which means you can get the ball to hit whichever section you want it to… if you’re quick enough, that is!

Heartbreaker starts out easy but as you progress deeper into the game you will be challenged with a multitude of new tasks that really ramp of the difficulty. It always manages to stay fresh and it always keeps you wondering what you’re going to be up against next.

Memory Castle from Jslgames

Memory Castle is a rogue-like RPG that takes the classic formula and mixes it with the card memorization game ‘Memory’. Before each floor begins you are given a few seconds to memorize everything in the dungeon. You will spot the locations of monsters, gold, upgrades, XP, and of course the key that is needed to progress to the next floor of the dungeon – but after a few seconds they will be hidden from view. You’ll have to rely entirely on your memory to grab some goodies, avoid the baddies, pick up the dungeon key, and make your way to the exit in one piece. It’s an interesting concept that works extremely well – and it really puts your memory skills to the test.

If you’ve been looking for a unique twist on the rogue-like RPG genre you really must check out Memory Castle. It’s a fun game that is entirely free! No ads or IAPs to be found here!

Rafting Bears from Crondale Games

Rafting Bears is a fast-paced action game about, well, rafting bears. You control a crew of four bears that find themselves rafting down a treacherous river filled with dangerous rocks. Your job is to help guide these bears to the finish line in one piece and earn some sweet sweet honey in the process.

What truly makes Rafting Bears stand out as a truly fantastic game is it’s unique gameplay formula and it’s intuitive control scheme. Controlling your raft is done entirely through swipe gestures: swipe up or down on either the left or right side of the screen to control the bears paddling direction for the corresponding side of the raft. Getting the hang of these controls can take a bit of time but once you master them you’ll quickly realize just how intuitive this control scheme really is.

On top of the intuitive controls there is a whole lot of content for gamers to unlock in Rafting bears. There are 100 unique levels to master, 20 equipment upgrades to attain, achievements to unlock, and global leaderboards to climb (the latter two being through Google Play Games Services).  Plus it’s free to download so be sure to check it out!

Retaliate from Romans I XVI

Retaliate is a vertical scrolling space shooter unlike anything you’ve played before. Your goal is to avoid enemy attacks while blowing them up in the process. What’s that? You think that sounds like every other space shooter ever made? Oh, I forgot something – you start with absolutely NO ammo! That’s right, no ammo.

That’s not to say that there isn’t any ammo at all in Retaliate. Enemies have ammo – it’s just that you’ve got to do some dirty work to get some for yourself. By using your ships super fancy energy shield you are able to absorb enemy projectiles and fire them back at them as you please. It’s an interesting concept for the genre and it works really well! There’s a whole new level of strategy required if you hope to stay alive for long in Retaliate.

The controls in Retaliate are also quite unique too. You move your ship from side to side by tilting your device, you tap on the left side of the screen to activate your energy shield, and tap on the right to fire any of your acquired ammunition. It’s a great control scheme that makes for one heck of a fun time!

In addition to the addictive space based gameplay Retaliate also features achievements and leaderboards through Google Play Game Services.

If you’re looking for an addictive twist on the space-shooting genre you absolutely must check out Retaliate today.
