[by Sora Ghim, photo by Kim Yeon Joong] Super Junior-M’s Chinese member Zhoumi has been living in Korea for 6 years and is 8 years into his debut, but is gradually letting his face and name be known. Music show MC, radio guest, solo album, and variety shows, he is active in various genres and is starting to be recognized as just Zhoumi, not ‘Super Junior-M.’

With his refreshing features and feel-good smile, he led a bnt fashion pictorial. He maintained his bright expressions throughout the shoot and was full of friendliness.

The pictorial was shot with three concepts. Firstly, in a natural and comfortable state, he expressed a young boy’s innocence. He showed his professionalism through his various expressions and poses, displaying his long arms and legs.

Following, he portrayed a sophisticated man within the rough city. The monotonous background of the city looks dry and tough, but inside is the contrasted look of leisure and sensitivity. Lastly, he depicted a man going on his vacation. With vivid colors and his sculpted face, it creates an amazing view.

In the interview that followed, he was unexpectedly loquacious. Worried that the Korean language might be a barrier for the interview, he crushed those thoughts.

Living in Korea for 6 years, he said he is for the most part, adjusted to the language of everyday life. However, he uses an application to translate the difficult words of a doctor.

Zhoumi’s adjustment to Korea wasn’t smooth from the beginning. Unable to use Chinese, he ate the same food for a month and greeted people he didn’t even know, even using formal speech to people much younger than him.

However, now he is a MC for a live program, even surprising himself. He said his fluency in Korean improved and his feelings towards Korea changed a lot. “Now Korea feels like my home. When I end my overseas schedule and arrive at the airport, the thought ‘Ah, I’m home’ comes first.” While speaking on Korea, his face was comfortable and relaxed.

He introduced his best friends miss A’s Fei and Jia as valuable friends that are no different from family. They eat together, watch movies together and go shopping together, always depending on one another and valuing their friendship.

It is not easy for a foreigner to make its place as a Korean singer. However, everything becomes experience and it has become a sturdy beam for his new start. Now we anticipate Zhoumi’s true Korean start. (photo by bntnews DB)
