Sunshine Hospice Ltd is happy to announce the latest development in its discussion with Lutheran Community Care Queensland, a potential partner in establishing a hospice on the Sunshine Coast. Their statement, which appears below, is a positive step in achieving our common objective:
Statement from Lutheran Community Care Queensland
“Recently, the Sunshine Hospice Limited and Lutheran Community Care Queensland met to discuss addressing the unmet need for hospice and palliative care on the Northern Sunshine Coast.
Both organisations’ believe strongly in the power of sensitive, kind, and gentle care to greatly ease the end of life transition for the terminally ill and their loved ones.
Death is a natural part of our lives, and meeting it with dignity and in a loving environment is the gift that hospice care brings.
Lutheran Community Care and the Sunshine Hospice Limited share this belief and mission, and we are discussing how we can support each other to realise this for the area.
While the discussion was very productive, there is a long way to go, and many processes to walk through, and other agencies to engage before any plans can be committed to.
However, this has been a positive first step towards providing care for people on the coast facing one of life’s most sensitive moments.”
To all our dedicated volunteers the Board and I thank you for your commitment while we are researching opportunities to realise a sustainable Hospice on the Sunshine Coast.
Kind regards,
Dr. Frank Lewins
Chairperson
