Summer is all about sunny weekends in the pool and family BBQs. If you host parties or have guests over often enough, you know that it is a never-ending task list that involves cleaning and organizing. I love having people over, but I dread having to make my home ready for company. Let’s face it. I’m a work at home mother with a messy toddler and two dogs. The house isn’t always presentable. When I decided that I wanted to make a change in my habits, I bought this book called The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. Paired with some fresh toilet paper from Charmin, I was ready to tame my to do list to make a cleaner home.

I try to be prepared for every ocassion including Fourth of July celebrations. While we aren’t hosting a party this year, we are gearing up for my son’s birthday party in August. I have three big tips that were inspired by The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo. This book is all over my Instagram feed and Facebook page. Everyone is reading it, nodding their heads in agreement, and making long-lasting changes in their home management plans.

Declutter. This is not a drill. You’re going to need to get rid of things that don’t matter. If you can reuse it, recycle it, or donate it…then do so. I have a list of 52+ items that you can declutter TODAY to help you get your home in order.

This book also has some ideas about how to part with things that you think you might need. Spoiler alert: You don’t need nearly as much stuff as you think you do.

Deconstruct. If you’re reading this post, it’s possible that you need help organizing or decluttering. Deconstruct the plan you have already. Get rid of those organizational bins or gadgets that you’re not using. Only have items in your home that are meaningful.

Destress. Don’t let throwing parties stress you out. Let people help you if they offer. Try to serve simple recipes so that you aren’t in the kitchen the entire party. It’s also important to stock up on essentials before the big event.

Have enough toilet paper, paper towels, bottles of water, and hand soap for your guests. Charmin and Roto-Rooter, America’s largest provider of plumbing and drain services, have teamed up again to remind us that Charmin has a clog-free and septic-safe guarantee. Charmin is used by more plumbers than any other toilet paper brand. Don’t risk a clog at your next party. Arm your bathrooms with Charmin and get ready to #TweetFromTheSeat.
