Grab your sweet tooth and your love of Disney movies, and get ready to throw a sweet shindig your entire family will enjoy. With the recent release of Big Hero 6 (our family’s new favorite movie!), we were inspired to host a preschool party with lots of pep. Bright colors, sweet treats, and a few themed activities brought Big Hero 6’s characters to life. If you are throwing a children’s birthday party, a mommy meet up, or just want to celebrate the weekend, host a Big Hero 6 party with these simple ideas.

To plan a proper Big Hero 6 party, you first must familiarize yourself with the movie. Disney’s Big Hero 6 DVD is available at Walmart, and you find a display near the electronics section. Your purchase of the Big Hero 6 Blu-Ray/DVD + Gift With Purchase Set includes a digital movie on Vudu while supplies last! Simply scan your receipt using the Savings Catcher in the Walmart app. Then look for a message on your phone or email. Now you can watch Big Hero 6 on any device!

This is SO awesome since now we can watch Big Hero 6 on the go! This came in handy when I threw this party at my local park. While I do a lot of entertaining at home, sometimes it makes more sense to be outdoors. Choosing a venue can be a problem for some if your home isn’t ready for guests, so consider thinking outside the box. I chose a park that had lots of seating available including a pint-sized picnic table!

One of the party guests included Baymax, a talking soft toy. I found this online at Walmart.com, and he became the highlight of the sweets table. Everyone wanted to meet him.

He talked when you pressed his chest!

LOCATION

As I already mentioned, I chose to have my party both indoors and out. I have a local park that features covered seating and lots of room to run. I wanted to encourage my party guests to interact with one another through various games and to have the space to do so. I set up a party table on a picnic table using linens and large candy jars. These would become the most fun part of the party! I used a small picnic table to host a coloring station, and I had children make their own Baymax characters using cotton balls.

MENU

This party featured snacks like these candy kabobs. Clearly the highlight of the day! Have you ever made a candy kabob? It’s quite simple really, but the children seemed to really love it!

Start with at least six candy dishes with sweets in a variety of colors. I selected candy based on the characters of Big Hero 6. I had red, green, yellow, white marshmallows (Baymax of course!), pink, and blue.

Try using a variety of flavors such as fruit or sour gummies. The best way to make a candy kabob is with large soft candies like gumdrops, marshmallows, and even licorice.

Grab a stick. Add some sweets. Enjoy!

You can use bamboo skewers from your local grocery store, just be sure to supervise this activity if children are participating.

Use licorice to create a fun effect from end to end.

You can also try using cotton candy!

There is definitely no wrong way to eat them!

Who can resist a treat that combines all of your favorite candy in one place?

It’s an 8 x 10 PNG file. You can size it down or print it as is.

INTERACTIVE ACTIVITIES

Bring crayons and coloring pages to the park. Secure to the picnic table with tape.

Get ready for fun pictures, creativity, and good times! You can use kraft paper or a roll of plain white drawing paper as well.

BAYMAX CRAFT

Grab cotton balls and print out this 8 x 10 Baymax face.

This easy idea will allow your party guests to use cotton balls to create their own version of Baymax.

Don’t Forget the Cake

Perhaps the best way to celebrate a movie release is with cake and punch. A slice of vanilla cake goes Big Hero 6 when it’s round and frosted! Use a simple black icing to re-create Baymax on the top of the cake.

It’s an easy and affordable way to bring the movie to your home.

Between sweets, art, and cake, I have to admit that this Big Hero 6 party is one to remember.

How are you celebrating Big Hero 6’s release? Do you love the movie as much as we do?
