Bruno Mars will sing at halftime of Super Bowl XLVIII in February at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, the Associated Press reported.
Fox will telecast next year's pro football championship game, historically one of the most-watched TV events of the year, on Feb. 2, 2014. The NFL is expected to officially announce Mars as the halftime act Sunday, when the league's regular season kicks off in full force, AP reported, citing an anonymous source.

Beyonce performed at this year's Super Bowl, which pit the Baltimore Ravens against the San Francisco 49ers at New Orleans' Superdome. CBS carried 2013′s big game, and the Eye cited higher Super Bowl ad rates for boosting Q1 revenue.
Other recent Super Bowl halftime performers have included Madonna (2012), Black Eyed Peas with Usher and Slash (2011), The Who (2010) and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band (2009).

Hawaii native Mars, 27, has sold more than 58 million singles and 10 million albums worldwide. He has notched six top 10 hits, including "Just the Way You Are," "Grenade" and "Locked Out of Heaven." In 2011, Mars won a Grammy for best male pop vocal perf for "Just the Way You Are."
