Found in the middle of the Andaman Sea, the archipelago of Langkawi is a popular destination for travelers from around the globe. Out of over 100 islands, Pulau Langkawi is the largest. Although legends state the place had been cursed for seven generations by an innocent maiden accused of adultery, this island was designated as a World Geopark in 1997 by UNESCO and it has been flourishing ever since. Likewise, Pantai Chanang Beach has since become visitors’ favorite section of the shoreline due to its powdery white sand and the numerous eating establishments.

As a popular resort island there is an abundance of choice when you are looking for accommodation. However, Casa del Mar is one of the islands best resorts so there is no need to look any further than this.

Perfect for rest and relaxation, these beautiful rooms are limited in number which helps to cut back on the crowds. Large suites with comfortable bedding and equally enormous bathrooms are but a few features of this resort. We highly recommend the Sea view ground floor rooms as they are located near the pool and only a few steps away from the beach. Room amenities include a pre-packed beach bag that comes with bug spray, flip flops, and hydrating mist spray. Complimentary bottled water, tea, cookies, and coffee are also provided for hotel guests and topped are up daily. After a long and activity filled day, the turn down service here is a pleasant surprise as it features lit candles and jazz music when you return to your room after dinner.

The friendly staff members at this hotel give five-star customer service at all times. Indeed, they seem especially focused on make sure guests have a wonderful experience. It is not uncommon for them to provide complimentary poolside and beachside refreshments such as mango icecream, ice lollypops, fresh fruit, and chilled drinking water. Cool, peppermint scented towels are also passed out to guests staying at this boutique hotel. The staff here are also incredibly proficient in helping guests arrange tours of the surrounding areas.

While staying on Langkawi we took some time to explore the island with a mangrove boat trip with Dev’s Adventure Tour.  The boat tour explored a fascinating area of Langkawi, one you might not automatically associate with an island paradise, as the tour was a contrast to the beaches one automatically associate with the island.  The mangrove area was fascinating and very enjoyable as you got to enjoy visiting a bat cave; see local monkeys and snakes; cruise though an area with dozens of eagles flying overhead; and visit a fish farm, all while learning a lot about the mangrove system itself.  And to top it all off a stop at your very own private beach for a swim.  The tour guides were friendly and very knowledgeable, the local food supplied for lunch was good and the boats were covered keeping you from the hot Malaysian sun.

Casa del Mar is decorated with dark wood furniture in a traditional hacienda style fashion. There is an onsite spa, which offers professional style massages and other treatments. The therapists are friendly and knowledgeable, with healing hands. There is a couples massage room for romantics visiting the resort. There is a spotlessly clean pool and hot tub found at this hotel as well.

There are kayaks available for use of those staying at the hotel. Both the scenic sunset cruise and the islands hopping trip can easily be arranged by the Casa del Mar staff. The latter is definitely a recommended way to spend at least one day of vacation. A picnic lunch is provided and participants spend the day lounging about on a secluded shore. For those that don’t wish to venture too far from their rooms, there is private beach area that is set aside for hotel guests and the sandy shore is raked daily. Lounge chairs, umbrellas, beach towels are available for the use of those staying at this location.

Casa del Mar offers an extensive and high quality breakfast. The menu selections are made fresh to order. While there are plenty of freshly prepared pastries and croissants complete with homemade jams and jellies, there are also gluten free choices available.

The onsite La Sal restaurant is widely regarded as being among the best in the city – The food is exquisite. The restaurant is a great location for sunset dining, because it is located directly on the beach, with views of the most breathtaking sunsets we have ever seen. Cocktails at the restaurant are also quite delicious and the bar’s happy hour lasts from 5 to 7 pm so guest have ample time to partake of their extensive beverage list. Eating lunch in one’s lounge chair on the beach is definitely another suggested dining option.

The hotel is located in the Cenang Beach area and is right on the shoreline. Casa del Mar is a 10 drive from the airport and the hotel can arrange airport transfers. This relaxing resort offers great location, friendly staff, delicious food and gorgeous surroundings – What more could you ask for?
