We are building and producing world-class broadcast content that engages our current audience, attracts new 'fans' of the brand and offers our commercial partners an exciting new product platform.

Currently, Economist Films is seeking a Public Relations Manager to play an essential role in the further development of our brand awareness key objective is to drive awareness, engagement and viewership of Economist Films content across 3rd party and owned channels and integrating this content with consumer and trade press communications, media partnerships, events and social media.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for volume and quality of media coverage, social buzz and website visits generated by inbound content and its ability to convert visitors into engaged Economist Films viewers, social followers and fans.

You will thrive in a team environment where you have the freedom to manage projects from conception to completion. This position reports to the Sales and Marketing Director of Economist Films.

In this role you will be expected to:
• Create and manage a content strategy that successfully attracts a new wider audience to Economist Films
• Integrate with social, press and title-specific promotions
• Strategically advise on best use of creative communications to achieve engagement and commercial results
• Develop and maintain a PR strategy that outlines how press communications, media partnerships and other activities can strategically drive increased awareness, views and Films followers
• Identify and target opportunities to promote Economist Films and its specific releases to trade and consumer press
• Ensure media coverage is aligned with brand, tone and messaging
• Work with other members of the commercial team to integrate group initiatives
• Analyse and generate insight from PR agencies, media monitoring tools, brand research, journalists and other monitoring platforms to evaluate success and drive future decisions
• Write, produce or curate engaging content ideas across owned and earned channels (e.g. The Economist's marketing blog, social, press releases, events)

To succeed in the role you must have:

• Extensive experience in a marketing, PR or content team with most recent role as a Content Manager, PR / Communications Manager, Brand Journalist or similar
• Strong experience managing PR via social media is essential
• Have strong experience in Inbound Marketing or brand storytelling
• Have a passion for moving-image (current affairs/documentaries) and the ability to share that passion with others
• Exceptional writing skills with a proven ability to write copy for specific audiences and deliver authentic, engaging content under pressure and to tight deadlines
• Sufficient gravitas to represent Economist with trade and consumer press
• Experience planning and implementing PR strategies including writing press releases, briefings and putting together press packs
• Experience evaluating and analysing PR results
• Must have an informed opinion about the role of Social Media and brands - how best to drive measurable results while engaging and connecting with audiences in an authentic way
• Have familiarity with digital marketing fundamentals (specifically SEO, conversion strategies, tracking / tagging methodologies and an understanding of online advertising
• Be able to manage conflicting priorities and deal with ambiguity
• Have a good analytical capability and a solid understanding of success metrics
• Have a strong bias for action and ability to get things done
• Excellent organisation and administrative abilities

To succeed in this role you will be able to demonstrate:

• Good knowledge of the publishing industry, particularly publishers, agents and trade bodies; as well as the media who cover them
• Exceptional project management skills
• The ability to work across teams and with different team dynamics
• Good understanding of video, image editing software and also photography and video camera skills
• Good understanding of brand principles, particularly brand identity and tone of voice
• Experience working in digital entertainment businesses
• Proven ability to network with senior industry members and press
• Commercial thinking, with regards to products and services
• Personal pride in producing output of high quality - excellent attention to detail
• Quick thinking, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage changes often within a short time frame
• Must be a self-starter with the ability to work and lead effectively in team settings
• Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
