Remember when you were a kid and your days seemed to drag on? I remember that very well, well now my days fly by, and I don't understand how since there are the same amount of hours in the day.
But we have been busy, busy busy! (hence why this update is a week late)
Anyone who has met Baby William, remarks at what a happy baby he is, and they are right, about 90% of the time he is very happy, smiling to anyone around him, cooing, laughing and sucking on his fists.
I am still not sure what color his eyes are, one day they look blue, the next day they look hazel. I guess we will wait and see.
He loves his brother and sister and they love him. He has also mastered grabbing things: toys, blankies, hair. Anything he can get his hands on and it all goes in his mouth.
The big news is that William got his first 2 teeth! He cut them at 3 1/2 months, which I think is so early. My daughter got her first 2 teeth at 8 months and my 2nd son was 5 months.
Weight/Length: He is a healthy big boy. At his 4 month check up, he was 20 lbs and 27 inches long. That puts him in the 100th percentile in both hight and weight. Definitely my biggest baby yet. Doctor says that I must have very good milk, But I don't know, I think it is genetic. My babies are big, my mom's babies were big too.
Sleep: He is my first baby to sleep so well during the night! Goes down anywhere from 9pm-10:30pm and sleeps till 6:30-7:30 in the morning. We co sleep, so as soon as I hear him moving around, and starting to wake up, I nurse him and he continues to sleep. He doesn't poop at night, so I don't change his diaper till he wakes up in the morning. He also sleeps really well in a stroller when we go on walks, or the outside swing.
If he is fussy during the day, I swaddle him and give him a binky and rock him, he instantly falls asleep. I notice that motion is his secret. Anything moving puts him to sleep.
Eating: He is such a great nurser now. He nurses from one side at a time every 1 1/2- 2 hours. I am just so glad I stuck to nursing/pumping. (see my struggles here)
I love that my milk nourishes him and helps him grow. Our struggle now is him biting! Now that he got his 2 teeth, he will occasionally bite me. It doesn't happen all the time, but it certainly is not pleasant!
Diapers: Size 4 in disposables which we use when we are out and about. I started using cloth diapers. Bum Genius are still my favorite.
Clothing: This big guy is wearing 9/12 month clothes. 9 month is getting small so we are switching to 12 months. It has been so warm, that we have started wearing shorts and cute little jumpers.
Mood: He is so happy when he wakes up in the morning! He coos and goos and smiles. He can talk to his mobile in his crib. He is especially happy when you hold him. He smiles when someone talks to him.
He went through a cranky phase about 2 weeks ago, and his 2 front teeth came out- which explained the crying and fussiness. I got hi some teething pills (after he cut his teeth!) LOL. I guess I didn't relate his fussiness to teething since he is so young, but now that I have teething pills, I will watch out for symptoms. He still has his fists in his mouth and drooling everywhere, we change his bib a lot because it is soaked with spit.
loves:
His fists, they are now constantly in his mouth! Or anything else he can find like a paci and blankie.
Bathtime (this can calm him down instantly, he loves water!)
Tickles! Especially his feet, he gets so excited.
When anyone talks to him
Doesn’t Love:
I can't really say what he doesn't like, he is a pretty calm baby as long as he is fed and changed.
What I Want to Remember:
His coos and smiles
The way he stretches after sleeping.
His laughs
His tiny two little teeth
Mama Update:
I have experienced my first ever case of mastitis and it was horrible! I was down for 3 days. I hated not being able to do anything, I felt chills, aches, and blocked ducts in my right breast. My cousin recommended Propollis for the infection, which helped clear it up in 3 days, and I took hot showers, used a heating pad and massaged those lumps right out! I hope to never get mastitis again! It is the most terrible illness since there is no "magic medicine" to make you feel better. It is so hard when you still have kids to take care of, I am just glad it was over the weekend so my hubby helped out a lot.
I have scheduled my 6 month post op, which is coming up. I feel that my uterus is back in place, but it will be glad to get the OB to confirm.
I have been sleeping well at night, so I don't feel like I need a nap.
It is amazing to have energy again! I get so much things done, sometimes I have to tell myself to slow down.
My hair started falling out. Gosh, I really hate postpartum hair loss, I feel like I am going to go bald.
I have lost 2 more pounds since my 3 month update, which puts me at 10 pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight. It certainly is a slow process, but I am so happy to see the weight coming off. I started to hate to excersice in the house, So I started to run. I LOVE IT! I love to go running late in the evening right before the kids bed time, I love the cool breeze in my face, the calm I feel. It just feels good and refreshing. I don't do much, only about a mile and a half, but it is so nice to have this 20 minutes to myself.
That wraps up our 4 month update.
Thanks for visiting.
