As Cape Town patiently awaits the arrival of warmer days, I cannot help but drool over the uber cool beachy braids seen at the Rachel Zoe show at New York Fashion Week. Inspired by windswept safari days, the look was created by Antonio Corral Calero of Morrocanoil and will no doubt be trending this Summer. There’s not much not to love about this deconstructed mode take on the braid which seems a great fit for any jet-set style maven on holiday. Obsessed! According to Corral Calero, “the hair needs to be in great condition to hold this kind of free-flowing look. Though there is some shine, the strands look semi-matte (made possible by new Moroccanoil Root Boost and new Moroccanoil Molding Cream — both of which launched this season at Fashion Week). Hair can still move in any direction and look and feel good thanks to the dry application of Moroccanoil Treatment.” Calero starts off with a Moroccanoil Treatment on dry hair to condition and strengthen. He then sprayed Moroccanoil Root Boost at the roots at the nape working upwards. He then warmed a bit of Moroccanoil Molding Cream between his fingers and worked it from roots to end. This product gave the hair a semi-matte texture with shine. Thereafter he dried the hair, lifting it at the roots using his fingers before sectioning off pieces and braiding the bottom half of the hair. Finally he tucked the top half of the hair into the bottom braids blending them in waves and creating fly aways at the top. Photo credits : David Webber for Moroccanoil
