June may be ending soon but it is still summer and the rest of the season still have a lot of weddings going on and also planning for those who are scheduled to get hitch next year so…. the wedding posts continues! This one is for the bridesmaids.

It’s such a cliché when brides tell their bridesmaids they “could wear their [bridesmaid] dress again” but honestly, we all know that bridesmaids’ dresses are infamous for being ugly and something you certainly will never wear again.

Some say the brides intentionally do it so they’re the only who is beautiful on their wedding day, after all it’s her special day… she’s the bride but of course not all brides have a logic like that. I have seen weddings where entourage’s dresses are all beautiful and they didn’t overshadow the bride. Below are some examples of beautiful bridesmaid dresses (even plus size ones) -in common wedding color motifs- that bridesmaids could literally wear again and majority of these dresses are below $500 or currently on-sale!

White & Nude

Before, wearing white in a wedding if you are not the bride is a huge taboo but nowadays it’s no longer that big of a deal. Many brides now opt for a white motif like the unforgettable Royal Wedding of Kate Middleton to Prince William. A good inspiration for this is Kate Moss’ wedding where all the bridesmaids wore beautiful fairy-like white lace dresses from various designers and some are even vintage finds. It was simple yet full of elegance.

Citrus

This is one tricky colour motif for a wedding, a simple mistake could make the entire look tacky and cheap but when done perfectly, it could be elegant, sweet and very summery. Perfect inspiration for this is Lauren Santo Domingo nee Davis’ wedding to billionaire Andres Santo Domingo where each bridesmaids (including socialite Tinsley Mortimer) wore pastel citrus coloured dresses created by different famous fashion designers though the bride’s dress was Nina Ricci created by Olivier Theysken.

Red & Pink

Pink is the MOST common wedding color motif probably because majority of girls loves the color pink and I think I no longer need to state an inspiration for this, just watch a movie about weddings or TV show with a wedding episode -like Gossip Girl in Blair Waldorf’s wedding with a Prince- I think approximately 1 out of 3 of those have bridesmaids dresses in pink.

While red color is not that common but a mixture of red & pink in one dress or in alternate thing (which I don’t get because I find the mix a little shabby) is quite common than you think. But I think red (only red without any tacky color combination) is a good color motif for bridesmaids’ dresses too.

Navy Blue

Among all the colours in this article, navy blue is the least common but it is more common than green or any other colour that isn’t in this list. But believe it or not this colour is getting more popular in weddings. That’s because this color is quite versatile, you could use it for an elegant and sophisticated themed wedding or to a bohemian themed one.

Black & Grey

I think these are the second to the most common wedding colour motif, probably those brides follow the saying “when in doubt opt for a little black dress”. And how come they not choose these colours, it’s elegant, sophisticated, sexy without showing too much skin and easy to accessorise and definitely will make her white wedding dress pop out among the crowd.

For Plus Size Women

One of the most popular bridezilla rules is that her bridesmaids must be size 8 and below on her wedding day which is insane!!! I don’t believe that size determines a person’s beauty. It’s all about the confidence and how she takes care of her skin.

Another ridiculous thinking of some women is that beautiful plus size dresses are super rare. Maybe in the 1990’s it is true where “heroin chic” ruled the runways and magazine editorials but today it’s just another insane logic. There are fabulous shops like Roamans where they sell beautiful plus size clothes from casual apparel, office outfit to formal dresses like for weddings. Below are some of my picks from the store which are perfect bridesmaids’ dresses that could be worn again:
