We admit it: we’re huge Game of Thrones fans. And one of the best things about the show? The fantastic beauty inspiration that the characters provide, and nobody’s look is stronger than the Mother of Dragons, Daenerys Targaryen. StyleCaster’s Beauty Director (and resident platinum blonde) Rachel Adler wanted a Khaleesi-inspired makeover, and I was only too happy to oblige! Here are the products that I used to create this regal look on Rachel.
Hair.
I curled Rachel’s platinum hair with Hot Tools 1″ Curling Iron ($34) from which I removed the clip. Aveda Air Control Light Hold Hairspray ($26) was used to set the curls, and Scunci No Damage Clear Polybands ($2.99) were used to secure the braids without damage.
Skin.
Khaleesi’s perfect skin was replicated with Smashbox Photo Finish Primer ($36) with bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel ($29) layered overtop and Clarins Instant Concealer ($31) applied with Sonia Kashuk Concealer Brush ($5.99). This was set with Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Powder ($34) applied with Sephora Domed Powder Brush ($34).
Cheeks.
I contoured Rachel’s cheekbones very lightly with MAC Sculpting Powder in Bone Beige ($17), then added color to the apples of her cheeks with Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Glisten ($28).
Highlight.
Because what could be important than shine? Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Compact in 01 ($38) was applied down Rachel’s nose, along her cheekbones, across her forehead, on her chin and just above the Cupid’s bow of her lips.
Eyes.
The red-bronze smoky eye look was created by applying the darkest cheek veil shade from the Laura Mercier Bonne Mine Palette ($48) across the eyelid and underneath the lower lashline. Highlight at the inner corners was the lightest shade from the Stila Eye Shadow Trio in Rose Gold ($28). Brows were thickened and darkened with MAC Eye Shadow in Concrete ($16), applied dry with Make Up For Ever Double-Ended Eyebrow Brush ($28). Mascara was Aveda Mosscara in Earth Brown ($18) applied by Rachel to top and bottom lashes.
Lips.
Outline, then fill in lips with liner to ensure even application (and great wear as you wander through the desert). I used Sonia Kashuk Lip Definer in Natural ($5.79) with Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Pink Truffle ($5.99) applied overtop with an angled brush.
