Beyoncé caused quite a commotion last week. On the eve of her sixth studio album –coming anytime soon– she released a pro-Black girl power video for “Formation” and performed at Super Bowl 50 with Coldplay and Bruno Mars.
And all the while, she’s been rocking high fashion. She even mentions it repeatedly in her new song.
I’m so reckless when I rock my Givenchy dress (stylin’) –Beyoncé, “Formation”
But for those of you wondering what exactly she’s been wearing in the video and SB50 performance, wonder no more.
Here’s the breakdown:
In the “Formation” video filmed in New Orleans, Queen Bey was styled by Zerina Akers, Shiona Turini, Eyob Yohannes, and Marni Senofonte. She wore a gamut of pieces most notably a custom Gucci suit (top image) with her dancers matching and a Chanel SS16 hat and Alessandra Rich SS16 lace dress we worn in her parlor scene (directly above).
On top of the car in water, Beyoncé wore a SS16 Gucci red skirt set [Shop Here].
A lace Zimmerman dress with corset was worn in her solo parlor scene. Her pastel mesh set worn in the garden was from Gucci and the bodysuit to end all bodysuits –worn in the hallway dance scene– was from Chanel pre-Fall.
The scene where Bey is in all black with a bolero hat, her jewels are from DYLANLEX Jewelry. She’s wearing their IVY earrings, HADLEY choker, FALKOR II necklace, ROCKY + RHYS bracelets [Shop Here].
For the Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show, Beyoncé wore a custom DSquared2 Leather Jacket with gold metal military-inspired detailing inspired from Michael Jackson’s 1993 Super Bowl performance outfit. Her bodysuit was from Ashton Michael and shoes were Christian Louboutin Country Crochet Ankle Boots and her dancers wore Zana Bayne two-piece sets and Dr. Marten boots.
In an exclusive interview with Essence, stylist Senofonte talked about the Black Panther theme of the Super Bowl 50 show. “It was important to her to honor the beauty of strong Black women and celebrate the unity that fuels their power,” she says.
“One of the best examples of that is the image of the female Black Panther. The women of the Black Panther Party created a sisterhood and worked right alongside their men fighting police brutality and creating community social programs. That they started here in the Bay Area, where the SuperBowl is being held this year, was not lost on her. And they made a fashion statement with natural afros, black leather jackets and black pant suits. That image of women in leadership roles; believing they are a vital part of the struggle is undeniably provocative and served as reference and reality.” [Read full interview here]
And for those of you who stan’d for her look in Coldplay’s “Hymn For The Weekend” Beyoncé wore a hand sculpted Laurel DeWitt crown with gold brocade dress in this scene.
