How gorgeous does Katja look in her Pronvoias dress?

I am delighted to share Katja and Leonardo’s super stylish city London wedding with you, their big day was photographed by the incredible Laura Babb. What I love about Laura (who had the difficult task of photographing me once in a wedding dress for Wedding magazine), is that she focuses on real emotive moments as they occur. As well as capturing the all important details and family portraits, Laura is there for the moment the flower girl hides under the table or when the bride’s grandmother sheds a tear as she watches her granddaughter walk down the aisle.

Katja and Leonardo got married on the 13th September 2014. They had a humanist ceremony at the Royal Automobile Club in Pall Mall, followed by a reception at her great aunt’s house in St John’s Wood. The couple met in Dubai (where they were both working and living at the time). They dated for two years, and moved to Thailand during that time when Leonardo got a job as a pilot. ‘He proposed in March 2014 while we  were skiing in Japan,’ says Katja. ‘It was very romantic as we were on the top of a mountain, sun was shining with Niseko in the background.’

The couple were keen to have a formal ceremony but wanted the reception to have a more laid back feel, so chose to have a marquee in the garden of Katja’s aunt’s house. ‘We went for a fairytale feel, with lots of candles and flowers, and a nod to my husband’s aviation career and the fact that we both love to travel a lot,’ says Katja. Their wedding also had a real London feel, the venue, the red bus, as this is where Katja grew up. ‘We had London buses and a tour through the city,’ explains Katja. ”We stopped at St Paul’s for photographs too which I think was a really fun way to break up the journey.’

I love everything about Katja and Leonardo’s wedding, the London touches, the red vibrant colours, their beautifully decorated marquee, and the little touches such as their creative wedding plan. I would love to know what you think of the couple’s big day, so do leave me a comment…

‘I had some fun with the bridesmaids,’ says Katja. ‘I sent them a Pantone colour chart with about 8 different shades of pink and a budget. They all bought their own dresses in the style that suited them. One bridesmaid, Debbie Tounta is a very talented fashion designer and she made two of the dresses herself.’

I love Katja’s vibrant wedding bouquet, created by the florist at The RAC.

A gorgeous photograph of Katja and Leonardo exchanging vows.

How adorable is this photograph of their flower girl capturing the marriage ceremony herself?

The newly married couple.

How fabulous is this photograph of the couple and their wedding party outside their ceremony venue?

Laura Babb has captured such joy in the faces of Katja and Leonardo.

I love the London touches at Katja and Leonardo’s wedding such as the red London bus used to transport the couple and their guests to the reception.

As the couple and their guests made their way to the reception, London life went on as normal!

‘The marquee was a white maharaja style tent with a cream lining (which was decorated with stars) and sides that could open up in case the sun shone (which it did),’ explains Katja.

Katja made the wedding plan herself with her mother’s help.
‘Each table was named after a place important to Leo and I and then pinned to the world map,’ says Katja.

Katja and Leonardo’s friend and London based designer Greco de la Torre created the order of ceremony and menu, which was made to look like the safety card and menu on a plane.

One of Katja’s bridesmaids, who has a business that makes soaps from natural ingredients, made them heart shaped soaps with real roses as favours. Her company is called All Natural Soap.

How fabulous is this macaroon tower?

I love the romantic feel of this photograph
