Happy International Women’s Day.

The reason why I love working in the bridal industry is that I am surrounded by incredible and amazing women.

There is no more fitting day than International Women’s Day to celebrate some of my contemporaries.

I have picked a small selection that I personally think deserve to be recognised for all they have achieved so far…

Celebrating women in the bridal industry for international women’s day

Deciding on the women to feature for this blog post was no easy task. There are so many talented women out there that deserve to be lauded. I hope you enjoy reading about just a few I have selected. Enjoy!

Ritva and Chenca Westenius

I am without question a huge admirer of the bridal designer Ritva Westenius. She has been at the forefront of bridal design since 1977.

In 2015 she decided the time was right to step back from the company, and hand the reigns to her daughter Chenca.

I believe Chenca and her mother Ritva are perfect women in the bridal industry to celebrate for international women’s day.

The fabulous Chenca and her equally as fabulous mother Ritva.

Jenny Packham

I absolutely adore the designs of the bridal and ready to wear designer Jenny Packham.

It is no wonder the Duchess of Cambridge is frequently spotted in her outfits as they are both feminine and very stylish.

Without a doubt, Jenny brings a ‘fashion touch’ to the world of bridal.

During my time as Editor of Cosmopolitan Bride, I was constantly dismayed by people who thought the world of bridal had nothing to do with the world of fashion. Thanks to designers like Jenny Packham, times have changed. Fashion of course now plays an intrinsic part in the world of bridal.

Jenny Packham, Style & the Bride salutes you.

Elizabeth Solaru of Elizabeth’s Cake Emporium

If you are looking for a wow statement wedding cake, think of  Elizabeth’s Cake Emporium

I have known Elizabeth for several years and she is without a doubt a woman who is passionate about what she does.

What makes Elizabeth such an impressive woman in the bridal industry is that she never stops! She loves what she does and this is clear for everyone to see when they meet her.

Kally Ellis of McQueens

Say the name McQueens and what do you think of? Well, for me, the florist or flower business is synonymous with all that is chic and stylish.

Kally is the founder and Managing Director of McQueens. The company began as a small florist in Shoreditch, London in 1991. It has since grown into an incredible business for the twenty first century.

The very talented Kally Ellis.

Nova Reid

Nova is just one of those women whose passion and enthusiasm for life bubbles over when you speak to her.

After becoming engaged, Nova like many new brides, went out and immersed herself in bridal magazines. However, she was dismayed to find that there didn’t seem to be a lot of visual inclusion for black and other ethnic brides.

Since launching Nu Bride in 2012, Nova consciously tries to provide positive images of beautiful women of all ethnicities.

Nova, I am delighted to celebrate your contribution to the bridal industry on International Women’s Day.
