Did you find a little box containing an engagement ring under the Christmas tree?

Wow, how exciting! Congratulations, you must be thrilled. What a special Christmas for you both.

I am so glad you have come across my wedding blog Style & the Bride. I launched my wedding blog because I believed there was a gap in the market for stylish and fashionable brides to be who wanted to plan a wedding just as stylish as they are!

It is so important this special time being engaged together. Of course I am sure you can’t wait to start planning your big day, but I would advise you just to take things slowly and soak it all in. Simply enjoy being with your partner and celebrating with family and friends.

After the Christmas period is over, you can of course start the wedding planning in earnest. One thing I would recommend doing straight away is start looking for your dream wedding photographer. I don’t want to alarm you, but good wedding photographers can be booked up to two years in advance. Please read my top 10 tips below to help you find your dream wedding photographer.

Tips to finding your dream wedding photographer

1. Do your research by looking at the real wedding section of Style & the Bride.  Generally, UK wedding photographers are happy to travel anywhere, including abroad, but you will obviously have to check with the photographer. If your photographer is travelling far from where he/she lives, you will of course have to think about providing refreshments and accommodation too.

2. When you book an appointment with a wedding photographer, ask him/her to see their portfolio. Look through it and see if their type of wedding photography appeals to you. Make sure you ask him/her to see their most up to date portfolio as you will want to know that they take photographs of weddings on a regular basis.

3. One of the most important pieces of advice I can give you when finding your dream wedding photographer is to find someone you feel comfortable with. He/she is going to be capturing the biggest day of your life, so it is crucial that you feel relaxed in their presence.

4. Whatever you do, please don’t scrimp on your wedding photographer. Do not choose your photographer because they are reasonable, choose them because you absolutely love their work. There is no point in spending a fortune on  your wedding day and not investing in the right photographer to capture all the special moments.

5. It is crucial to meet your wedding photographer in person before booking them. A phone call or Skype call is not enough. It is essential that you meet up with him/her at least once or twice before your big day.

6. When you meet with a photographer, ask to see photographs from a full wedding, rather than just the highlights. This will give you a clear indication of what you will be getting on your big day.

7. If you are worried about being the centre of attention, why not have an engagement shoot before your wedding? Your dream wedding photographer will only be too happy to do this for you.
