While the modern world turns to technology for everything, there is a desire to be plugged up and in at all times. The world of digital information is never-ending and it is something that almost can’t be avoided. As that may be, it creates an obsession in needing to be plugged-in at all times. The NY Art Department‘s YOU ARE HERE Exhibition displays just that.

The NY Art Department teamed up with Pointer to put on a fabulous group exhibition that features the works of ten artists. Participating artists include Big Egypt 2020, Jason Ciocci, Josh Reames, Kathy Grayson, Phillip Stearns, Rick Silva, Ryder Ripps, Thomas Pregiato, Trudy Benson and #BEENTRILL#. Each artist represents various movements of the new media art. The pieces display a variety of Internet cultures while creating a question around the impact of technology on the types of arts and media people take in. The YOU ARE HERE exhibit also explores “Freedom” and how so many people prefer it but are still controlled by the confines of the Internet. The exhibit opens on Friday, October 11 and will be showing the entire weekend at The Hole in NYC. Stop by to check out this pretty cool display of talent, concepts, and ideas.
