Anyone who knows me knows that I am smitten with weddings. I simply love them! When I worked with Sarah and Paul for their wedding at the Reach Resort Key West, I fell in love with more than a beautiful wedding, I also had the pleasure of working with an absolutely wonderful couple. I truly enjoyed getting to know Sarah as I styled her for her important day, and her lovely wedding was a reflection of the lovely person she is, inside and out! Naturally, I had to follow up with her and get the low down on why she chose to have her wedding at Reach Resort Key West, what motivated her wedding day choices, and what she loved most about her experience. This is what she told me:

Sarah & Paul Love Key West!

Our favorite aspect of wedding planning was the many trips we made to Key West to plan the wedding. We were engaged for 21 months and we were able to visit Key West 5 times. Each trip we met with vendor(s) and made it a vacation!

Sarah and Paul’s Wedding Day Vendors

Studio Marie-Pierre came highly recommended by Nicole at the Reach Resort Key West and got the best reviews on Wedding Wire and other websites. You were so good with email and phone communication which made you an easy pick and I am so glad I chose you. My hair, makeup, and spray tan were more amazing than I could have ever hoped for!

Rick Bauer Band for our reception music. When we lived in Ft Lauderdale, they were our favorite band that played at our favorite Boston bar. We have become friends with them over the past 5 years.

Bongo D (Duane Scott) for ceremony and cocktail hour music. This was the only vendor we didn’t get to personally meet before the wedding. He came highly recommended by Nicole at the Reach Resort Key West.  I loved that I walked down the aisle to Canon in D … On the steel drums.  Also he blew a conch shell when we were announced husband and wife.  Perfect Keys vibe.

Love in Bloom for flowers. Gorgeous flowers at a reasonable price!  Efficient communication and worked with us to stay within our budget.

Croissants de France for pastries. This has been our fave morning stop in Key West since we met 5 years ago so it was an easy decision to choose them for our wedding desserts. We didn’t want a traditional wedding cake. We chose key lime tarts, key lime pie, and Key West rum cake. It was fitting for the location and everyone could have a taste of everything. My mouth waters just thinking about how yummy these desserts were. I will take French bakery food over a traditional cake any day!

Solaris Photography. Found via online research and also recommended by Nicole at the Reach Resort Key West. They offered reasonable pricing and we got lots and lots of pictures. His father, Tony was our 2nd photographer for the first two hours. Solaris and his wife Marcela were great with tailoring our photography package to exactly what we wanted.

The Reach Resort Key West, the location of ceremony, reception, and after-party. We loved that we were on the beach but not IN the sand for our ceremony. The gazebo sold this location. We loved Nicole instantly and we were lucky enough to meet with her every trip we made down to KW. She was friendly, professional, and made us feel comfortable about every decision. Plus, she recommended great vendors! The food was excellent and it was our dream venue.

Dante’s for the welcome party. My aunt and uncle hosted a welcome party for all wedding guests the day before the wedding! It was a blast!

Why Key West?

We chose KW because it was the first vacation we went on as a couple in May 2009. Paul proposed to me just off of Mallory Square May 2012. Ever since we met, KW was always our special get-away. We love the sunsets, water/ocean activities (snorkeling and fishing), the laid back island vibe, the restaurants and bars. I am from Wisconsin and Paul is from Boston. We currently reside in Lake Mary, FL. We decided a destination wedding was the right thing for us due to our love of travel and the fact that some family/friends would have to travel regardless of location.
